Human
Humans are one of the most prevalent sentient species on Pruth. They are native to Osthas, but have since spread to Alharion and even some along the southern coast of Oranil. Human civilization has a history of being both the oppressed and the oppressor. The elves, duskwalkers, dragons, and centaurs of Osthas have all found humans to be worthy fodder for consumption, conscription, taxation, or raiding as the situation calls for. In turn, humans have almost entirely eradicated centaur civilization, as well as that of the dryads, while also forcing the kobolds underground and turning the werebeasts into a caste of second-class subjects.
It is theorized that, over a long enough time, humans might find their skin colors darkening along the lines of longitude, with equatorial populations experiencing the darkest skin while those to the north of Osthas and south of Alharion would possess lighter skin. Such theories are widely mocked, as there is little to no evidence for such a color gradient existing on Pruth. Skin colors vary with ethnicity and culture, but communities living side by side can have vastly different colorations while the Mardum people of northern Osthas are roughly equivalent in darkness to the Faldians of northern Alharion, while the Sotou people who inhabit a region in southern Cascadia are much lighter. Proponents believe that humanity has not existed on Osthas for long enough for the forces of change to take effect.
