Shimmering Sands

The Shimmering Sands, also known as the Limitless Desert, is a Manaworld contained within the Agaletian Hourglass]. The plane appears as a desert located in a dry and temperate climate, extending out in all directions towards infinity. In reality, the plane is magically bounded, such that a traveler will end up returning to their point of origin after beginning to walk in any direction. The plane has one known settlement: Kalamati, although remnants of previous settlements lie buried under the sand, and rumours abound regarding the ruins of old @[Agaletian settlements built in a prior age.

Geography

The Shimmering Sands are effectively one large plane, magically bounded on all sides in such a way that travel in a straight line results in the return to the point of origin. Centered on this plane is Kalamati, a small settlement where the native Manaborn of the plane reside.
The true depth of the Shimmering Sands is unknown; it is theorised that beneath the dunes lies previous competing settlements to Kalamati, including a settlement created by Agaletian visitors to the plane. Occasionally, sandstorms and thunderstorms will reveal parts of those ruins; unfortunately, sometimes those same storms sometimes creates enchanted creatures due to the aether concentration within the plane.

Ecosystem

The plane is highly dry and temperate, with occasional sandstorms. The sky shows changing patterns, with weather changes seemingly working at random.

Localized Phenomena

Since there is only one settlement in the Manaworld, sandstorms seem to be observed from that point. Thunderstorms and heavy winds do occur from time to time, though the natives do not record patterns.

Natural Resources

Despite being mostly desert, the Shimmering Sands is surprisingly full of precious metals. This is theorised to be due to the large aether concentration forming metals, which forms as geodes that the natives find in high regularity and use in metalworking as well as construction.
