Veilwalker Sickness Condition in Animora | World Anvil

Veilwalker Sickness

Veilwalker Sickness is a condition one may attain if exposed to the fogs of The Veiled Expanse for prolonged periods without sufficient protection.

Symptoms

Downsides

Diminished Magical Potency

Veilwalker Sickness causes a gradual weakening of magical abilities. Spells become harder to cast, requiring more effort and concentration, and their potency diminishes over time. Afflicted individuals may find themselves unable to access higher-level spells or execute complex magical rituals.

Fading Knowledge and Memory

Knowledge-related abilities, such as memory recall, analytical thinking, and comprehension, also deteriorate under the influence of Veilwalker Paradox. Affected individuals may struggle with recalling specific details, solving complex problems, or retaining new information.

Mixed Blessings

Unseen Presence

You become harder to remember and notice as your condition worsens, potentially allowing you to sneak up on your foes, but also making your friends and family both more likely to forget you are there, as well as making tit more likely they will mistake you for a stranger, or nothing at all.

Magical resistance

The Veiled Veilwalker's Paradox bestows an unusual form of magical resistance. As their magical abilities weaken, the afflicted gain a peculiar resilience to the spells and enchantments of others. They become highly resistant to magical effects that would otherwise influence or detect them, enabling them to elude the grasp of hostile magicians and magical creatures, but also making them resistant to healing magic and other benefitial magics.

Boons

Inherent Veilwalking

As their magical potency and memory fade, those afflicted by Veilwalker Sickness become increasingly adept at masking their presence and eluding detection. Their natural affinity with The Veiled Expanse allows them to blend seamlessly with the magical fog, making them virtually invisible to the untrained eye.
