Ekazian Teleportation Vehicle in Animora | World Anvil

Ekazian Teleportation

Ekazian Teleportation is a form of teleportation involving the invocation of Ekaz, usually thorugh either a spell cast by a wizard attuned to this moon's domain.   This form of teleporation is most common among wolfbloods who have an innate connection to the endless forests of Ekaz, or the forest between worlds as it is often named, and can enter them at will so long as the moon is not at its weakest.   Ekazian Teleportation is considered both relatively swift and generally safe when done with the appropriate meassures, however, that does not make it a truly safe form of travel.   The forest is not a three-dimensional location, and unløess you are a wolfblood, you will not be able to navigate there with any degree of success.   Ekazian teleportation spells work by first creating a path within it, then transporting you into Ekaz, and having you traverse the created path.

Dangers

Long Traversal

As the length of the path scales to some degree, often compared to the square of the distance, of the distance travelled, and as the "path" is more of a feeling and simplified route than an actually cleared area, ekazian teleportation is not reccomended to be used in combination with horses, wagons or someone with a poor constitution, as if you are too slow, you risk the path closing on you, which would leave you stranded in a place between placed, unable to get out predictably.

Planar anomalies

As Ekaz is a place betwene places and is inantely connected to the domains of the stars and magics of a thousand thousand worlds, and as such is both a magically complex and planarly nightmarish location from a magical standpoint, it is not reccomended to go into it with any form of spatial magic, nor to use any kind of spatial or planar manipulation in the location, as it is very likely to backfire horribly.

What Lurks In The Dark

The forest is also not a tame location. There are monsters there that hunt, there are things from a thousand worlds lurking in the shadows. While most of the time, a created path will keep you safe, doing anything to bring attention to yourself, like casting a spell, leaving something behind, or even speaking, can dra unwanted attention from Things Best Left Alone.

Cost

Ekazian teleportation scales somewhat with distance, usually comapred to the square of the distance travelled, though this is in fact not an accurate comparison, but it is close enough that most scholars understand the concept, even if the math is entierly off.

Uses

Uses for natural travellers

Ekazian Teleportation is used by wolfbloods to traverse to any location they have previously been with relative safety, ekazian wolves live there and can navigate it effortlessly as well as abvoiding the Things Best Left Alone, and Wolf gods have their home here, and need not feat the prescence of lesser things.

Uses for ordinary mortals

Mortals use this form of traversal to travel between points quickly, and to move valuable items betwene locations.

It is rare for teleportation or trade networks to be made using this method, as most people find the forest both unsettling, dangerous and risky. The price of having a caster powerful enugh to create a path, combined with the inability to take large amounts of objects with you and the inherent risks means that only the most expensive of luxory goods are generally moved in this fashion, as anything less would not be monetarily viable.

You also have the fact that some creatures, like wolfbloods, are fully capable of tracking people through the forest, and there exists bandit wolfbloods. As they tend to be rather more powerful within Ekaz than they usually are in Animora, making a habit out of going through at regular intervals will likely lead to a soon to be very rich bandit moving in shortly.
