Session 1 Recap - "Goblins Welcome You to Radivant" - Feb 16, 999
General Summary
The party arrived at camp, spent a bit of time getting to know each other.
Intervened in a goblin incursion. Genevieve noted that a torched was apparently tampered with, providing the goblins with cover. However, it might just have been the rain.
After slaying all but one of the goblins, the dragon Kostri 'an i' tanicus (old Angry Eyes to the locals) appeared. The ancient dragon appeared unable to approach Radivant nor even see the party. That is, until Dutch spoke with it. As Genevieve and Arya could tell, the dragon was deeply frustrated because it was apparently unable to act.
At this point the party met Tattersail, female mage and part of the hierarchy of the White Council itself. She had her companion / bodyguard, Skintick, dispatch the remaining goblin which the party had tied up for mysterious purposes.
Soon after, Radivant guards led by Sergeant Hellion, alerted by the fighting, investigated and invited them into the city out of the rain.
The next morning, Boran Lemben, Adjunct to the Taran a' Misha, Lord of Radivant, arrived. After introductions and exchanging pleasantries, Boran brought them to meet the Lord himself.
Lord Taran provided a bounty of 40 gold pieces, 10 gp for each goblin. He was stunned to learn from Genevieve and the party that the goblins might have been aided in some small way through sabotage. Apsalar Tostovan, who spoke relatively little during this meeting, hurriedly left upon hearing it. Lastly, Lord Taran urged and insisted that the party take no steps to antagonize Kostri 'an i' tanicus. As a final gesture of his thanks for the party's intervention, he offered them the Lord's Largess and free lodging at the Cat's Claw Inn for the party's first week in Radivant.
The party spent the better part of a day and into the evening at the Cat's Claw Inn, managed by the barkeep Belian Trentspace. While there, the party overheard or joined in various conversations about the goings-on in Radivant. They learned more of the silver vein discovered in the mines to the north of the city and the troubling disappearance of miners. They heard a rumor of a resurgence of demon worship and the old demon cult from an apparently crazed old man who referred to new rising leader by the name of Xanthe. Genevieve and Avull, for different reasons, knew that "xanthe" means "pet" (as in pet cat) in demon tongue. And lastly, the inn was full of rumors and gossip that someone had learned the true identity of the wizard that created the Silver Tower, an abandoned wizard's tower sitting at the center of Radivant and around which the town had grown these past three human generations.
Dutch rallied the party around the idea of investigating the mysterious goings-on and disappearances of the miners in connection with the silver mine.
The party spent two days recovering in Radivant.
