Aliel - Lady of Knowledge and Mistress of trade, Mother of the Aasimar

As is often the case for the many gods that comprise the The Pantheon of Andúnë, there are two aspects to the goddes Aliel.
She is the Keeper of knowledge, tasked with the collection of all knowledge.
Through divination magic, through her clergy, through direct observation and through the goodwill of Kielat, who willingly shares the new creations he inspires or knows about, Aliel collects all that is known, which she stores in her all encompassing mind, but also, it is said, in a vast library to which only her blessing can grant access.
Bringing new knowledge and recovering some forgotten relic of the past are sure ways to gain her favour, and, conversely, destroying and hiding knowledge from her is equally sure to bring her ire upon oneself.

Aliel is however well aware that some knowledge is dangerous, and that not all that she knows is to be shared freely or, in the case of mortals, at all.
Keeping secrets is one of her other tasks, a task that is mitigated by her actions, direct or indirect as may be, that bring her the second title she is known by, that of Mistress of trade.
Well aware that there are powers out in the world that her agents cannot possibly coerce into sharing their knowledge, Aliel encourages her agents to trade for those secrets.
Over time, many a merchant has begun to raise a silent prayer to Aliel as they were trying to close a trade in their favour.
It is said that the church of Aliel is one of the richest in Andúnë, and often operates as moneylenders.

Sages believe that once Aliel saw how the mortal races were evolving and spreading out over the lands, she wished for a similar people to call her own, and used all of her knowledge to give a fair shape to her chosen. Kielat, who often sought her counsel, helped her in her crafting and extended to these creatures the boon of long life. Thus, the Aasimar came to be. Where they grew as a nation or moved their first steps, where they became what they are today, is shrouded in mystery.
