Stone Towers

Stone Towers is a popular game among young Orcs, and is where participants take turns stacking stones until one tower topples over.

History

Stone Towers is a very old game, and has been played by children for generations. It's exact origins are unknown, but more than likely a child invented the game and taught other clan children how to play. As they grew up and the young men earned their place in another clan, they likely taught their children.

Execution

The game begins with each child selecting a stone to use as the base of their tower. After that they will take turns selecting a stone and balancing it on top of the previous stone. They'll continue taking turns until one of the stone towers collapses. Whoever's tower is still standing at the end wins the game.   Despite being a relatively simple game there are several things that are considered cheating in the game. Breaking or carving a rock to stack better is considered major cheating, for only intact stones are allowed. Manually toppling an opponents tower is also seen as cheating.

Components and tools

Throughout their childhood young Orcs like to collect any stones that they may believe to be good for stacking. Children who are really into the game, or have favorite stones, will decorate them with brightly colored paint.

Participants

Typically the game is played with two children, though it is possible to play alone or in larger groups. To a lesser extent adults may also play Stone Towers, but their games tend to last much longer.

Observance

This game can be played at any time of the year but it's also highly popular during times of celebration. The children have been known to spend all day playing the game, with even the adults playing a few rounds.
