Sphinx, General
Androsphinx, the Criosphinx, the Gynosphinx, and the Hieracosphinx. In addition to the debate of the number of species the sphinx consists of, their has been some debate whether or not they should be considered monster or folk.
The two human-like sphinxs believe that the animal-like are a punishment from an old god.
A highly debated group of creatures, there are four species, (or only one, depending on who you asked), the Basic Information
Anatomy
Sphinx have leonine bodies and great feathered wings that sprout from their backs. The female and one of the male sphinx species have humanoid faces, while the other two male species have animalistic faces. Their claws are razor sharp, and all the males tend to have beards and long hair.

Typically fights on the ground.
Movement
While they can fly, they typically prefer to walk.
Genetics and Reproduction
There has been much debate whether or not the four sphinxes should be considered their own species, or a single species, for while all four act and look very different, all three of the male sphinxes rely on the female sphinx in order to breed.
Ecology and Habitats
Sphinxes are territorial, and are native to deserts, prairies, and surrounding areas.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They will pounce on prey, using their wings to propel themselves.
