Mammoth

Also known as a Woolly Mammoth.

Basic Information

Anatomy

These large relatives of the elephants have massive sweeping tusks that extend from their jaws before the tips curve towards each other. They are covered in a thick coat of shaggy fur.

Genetics and Reproduction

Slow reproduction rate.

Ecology and Habitats

Native to tundra steppe.

Social Structure

Lives in herds of either bachelors or females with young. Each herd consists of around 30 individuals.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Giants often herd females and their young to milk them and make cheese.   Hunters prize mammoths for for their ivory, hide, and meat.   There is a species/breed of pygmy mammoth that is the size of a pony and is a popular pet amongst the rich.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Prey for Dire Wolves and other large predators.
Conservation Status
Hunting is regulated to prevent over-hunting and to avoid angering Giants and the hunting babies is highly illegal.However poachers go after the young due to them having very thick and soft fur.

Shaggy brown fur.
