Anatomy

These large relatives of the elephants have massive sweeping tusks that extend from their jaws before the tips curve towards each other. They are covered in a thick coat of shaggy fur.

Native to tundra steppe.

Social Structure

Lives in herds of either bachelors or females with young. Each herd consists of around 30 individuals.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Giants often herd females and their young to milk them and make cheese.
Hunters prize mammoths for for their ivory, hide, and meat.
There is a species/breed of pygmy mammoth that is the size of a pony and is a popular pet amongst the rich.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Prey for Dire Wolves and other large predators.

Conservation Status

Hunting is regulated to prevent over-hunting and to avoid angering Giants and the hunting babies is highly illegal.However poachers go after the young due to them having very thick and soft fur.
