Chupacabra

Due to their blood diet, many folk associated them with Vampires, and blame the Vampires for their appearance and spread in the Firadas Prairie. Due to the chupacabras increased attacks on children, their has been increased calls for the deaths of vampires.

Basic Information

Anatomy

These reptilian-like creatures have a light build and stand on two muscular back legs. They have a mane of spikes that run along its back.

Genetics and Reproduction

Chupacabras mate during the hottest months of the year, and will lay only a handful of eggs per clutch.. When the young hatch they will be highly dependent on their mother for the first few months, so she will bring them weakened prey to feed on.

Ecology and Habitats

Native to warm hills and plains, they prefer areas with high rocks and tall grass so they more easily sneak up and ambush prey.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Chupacabras exclusively feast on blood, often preferring swine, bovids, and occasionally folk. They will seek for prey that appears weak or slow, and then stalk them for an extended period. When they strike, they will pin their prey to the ground and drink its blood through it's neck. Afterwards they will leave the drained corpse for scavengers.

Social Structure

While they are typically solitary, they will pack up when a wounded animal larger than themselves is nearby.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Native to the 'Beast Continent', they somehow made their way to Tamerea, and have been spreading across the Firadas Prairie.
