Knobbelkoorts
Seven years ago the first patient with Knobbelkoorts emerged seemingly out of nowhere. A woman from the Breathing Barrier quadrant had been foraging near the village of Hatwat. In no time the disease started to spread. Not knowing where it came from, nobody knew what to do and how to battle it. For years the disease came and go unannounced. The authorities of the quadrants soon introduced measure to prevent Knobbelkoorts from spreading. They also asigned a Seeker to discover the origin of the disease.
So far, no cure has been found.
Symptons
Although Knobbelkoorts is not deadly, the carrier develops clusters of nodules on the skin in random places on the body. Colouring from red to green and from small to big bumps, it is not pretty to look at. But apart from how it looks, Knobbelkoorts comes also with invisible symptoms that the patient suffers from the most. They lose their taste almost completely and for as long as the Knobbelkoorts endures they only see in red and green. Normally the condition ends automatically between three and four weeks. After that for a period of time you are immune to having Knobbelkoorts again. So far, no cure has been found.
Batteling the disease
Because no cure has been found. When Knobbelkoorts emerges the whole town or place goes in quarantaine. So far it has not yet passed the border of the Breathing Barrier. A couple of settlements have been in quarantaine included Hatwat. When in quarantaine, nobody may enter or leave the village and everybody needs to stay at distance. When all symptoms have vanished for at least two weeks the quarantaine will be lifted. Upholding the quarantaine is the responsibility of the quadrants leadership and law enforcement.
Seeker Randell Keany was assigned finding the origin of Knobbelkoorts. He went through the whole area of Hatwat.
He knew the first case was probably contrated during foraging. Going through the area he found multiple caves that grew a specific fungie with the same elements as the symptoms describe.
Now they knew the origin but the fungie have left the caves and they now emerge everywhere in the woods. Therefore, infection cannot be completely avoided until a cure is found.
