Traveling through the country, givers are bringers of knowledge and skills. Often specialized in a particulair skill but not always. There are givers who are the wielders of everyhting and the master of none. Their function is not only to to individuels, but also to spread news about the newest developments across the eight quadrants so they can learn from each other.
Views of knowledge
Most givers are in service of a baron or other leaders across the plataat. Others travel on their own authority. These are often the givers that just like giving. Providing their services for a lower fee than the givers with an employer. This causes multiple perspectives on knowledge.
Knowledge is power
Knowledge is valuable and only to be given to those who can wield it. That is the official way many with knoweledge would describe the purpose of a giver. Practically this means that they only provide their services to those who can afford it. The wealthy and the priviliged.
Knowledge is freedom
Knowledge is not held by anyone, you can have it, but not own it. This is the counterargument that often is brought up. The ones who says this, believes that the hold on to knowledge, but have no ownership over their knowlegde. They believe that knowledge is for everyone to have and so they give it to everyone who wants some.
Education
Givers go from city to city and village to village. Often with a strict purpose, they know what knowlegde they are bringing with them at that place and time. The duration of their stay depends on the knowledge they bring but most of the time they stay for weeks or even months. When they leave the people he educated will be skilled enough to wield the knowledge and they do not leave before that goal has been reached.
