The Northern Grassland Tribes

The Northern Grassland Tribes is the name assigned to the various tribes that live within the area. The nation is home to various tribes of wood elves, gnomes, halflings, orcs, and even humans. While some of the tribes might be ok with a peaceful existence, others treat outsiders with extreme prejudice. Reports of raping, pillaging, slaughtering and scalping of outsiders and other tribes have been reported.

Public Agenda

Most of the tribes of the Grasslands only wish to be left to their own devices; However, the orc tribes have promised to kill or enslave any outsiders that wander near their territory.

Assets

The grasslands are filled to brim with horses, buffalo, and fertile farmland. Additionally, the nearby forest provides good timber for building if one can get around the local druids.

History

So long as beings have occupied Andarrea, so too have the tribes of the Grasslands. While civilization grew around it, the Grasslands believed in staying attuned to the old ways of nature. The neighboring nations were fine with this and recognized them as an official nation with their own borders where the nations were not allowed to go. Most of the tribes practice druidcraft, befriending animals and protecting the forest. While most tribes were friendly, there were a few that were violent and invasive. The worst of these tribes were the orcs. The early orc tribes have found a way to tame and breed horses capable of carrying their weight. This made them a terrifying force to be reckoned with because they could hit with both force and speed. Not to mention, they also had the ability to breed like rabbits. During the war with the darkness, the orcs did not really pick a side and instead took advantage of the chaos to raid and pillage other nations. A large clan of orcs led by Vakgar Alog launched an invasion into Füradern, claiming the mountains. He claimed that the mountains were the birthplace of his ancestors and thus their invasion was justified but a mere decade after the darkness was defeated, the orcs had been completely pushed out. The orcs have tried to launch invasions against other nations, but none have been very successful mostly due to lack of cohesive leadership. In recent years, an Orc chieftain by the name of Xurug Dagulach has been assimilating tribes of orcs with the promise of reclaiming their ancestral home.

Demography and Population

The most common races in the Grasslands are gnomes, elves, humans, and orcs.

Technological Level

Almost all of the tribes in The Grassland refuse to use technology that was not made by them. This stems from a belief that such technology is either cursed or immoral.

Foreign Relations

Due to many different tribes existing in the grasslands, diplomatic relationships prove to be difficult to forge. Most relationships are formed on a tribal basis, although many of the orc tribes refuse to have any contact with the nations. Thylodis and The United Northern Kingdoms have tried to establish colonies in the grasslands, despite the objections from the local tribes. Most of the colines are attacked by the tribes and The Northern Kingdoms have retaliated by annexing some of the nearby under the guise of protecting their kingdoms and borders. ANy tribe tath is unlucky enough to wander into The Kingdoms borders, are forcefully removed.

Infrastructure

Being a tribal nation official road and trade routes do not exist. Thylodis and The Inquisition of Axis have tried establsih trade routs but all have been quickly destroyed by hostile tribes.
