Wrath of the Ancients
General Summary
335-1106:
Group is in Regina, while Dr. Ralith Baneson writes several papers on the ancients. They are also researching the psionic threat, the wave, Vlen told them of.
336-1106:
Explorers of the Ancients are joining Whistler to deliver a message to Dinomyn. On the way they each have a strange dream:
Along the way, they
experienced a very strange dream-like episode in
which they witnessed a mighty ship dying. It was
crewed by Droyne, who appeared to be servants
of an Ancient. The ship was large, cruiser-sized
perhaps, and equipped with a mix of Droyne and
Ancients technology. It took the form of a flattened
sphere, more or less, or a very thick disc with
protrusions here and there. It shimmered, silverygrey,
and it was quite beautiful.
The ship was approaching a gas giant moon, searching
for something perhaps. It flew serenely above the
methane clouds, scanning the surface with its
instruments. Without warning, jagged holes appeared
in its upper surface. It tilted crazily and veered away
from the planet, spinning and tipping as if trying to
throw off something grappling its upper surface.
Apparently it succeeded, although the Travellers
could not see any assailant. Frightful weapons lashed
out and something died. The Travellers had a vague
impression of fleshy structures… a biological warship?
Severed tentacles, tens of metres long, tumbled into
the moon’s atmosphere.
The Travellers’ point of view moved inside the ship,
to a control room where a powerful Droyne leader
ordered his Warriors to protect the ship. They tried.
The first to reach the hull breaches were overwhelmed
by boarders, creatures like the G482 previously encountered. These were not
invisible, or else the Droyne Warriors were immune
to their special talent but they were ferocious and
savage. Plasma guns and disintegrators cut down
many but they overran the first line of defenders and
intercepted the next groups to arrive.
The previous G482 creatures encountered were mindless slaughter machines
but these acted as if they had a purpose or were
commanded. They mobbed the Warriors and any
other Droyne they encountered, and drove towards
the command chamber. The ship’s Leader rallied a
new wave of Warriors and positioned them well but
the attack was a ruse. Even as the horde of invaders
was thrown back by a fusillade of plasma, a group
reached its true goal. They broke into chambers
that commanded the ship’s systems and killed the
Technicians there. They tore out control systems,
sending the ship spiralling down into the atmosphere.
Then they… stopped.
The surviving Warriors quickly eliminated the intruders
they found. Their ship was doomed, however. Barely
under control, it plunged into the methane clouds,
leaving a twisting trail of gas and debris behind it. The
Leader gave orders and his crew obeyed. They fought
gravity and almost won but in the end were betrayed
by the torn surfaces of their ship. Gas dragged at the
ship, spinning it and confounding the efforts of its crew.
Finally, it plunged into a frozen sea of methane, tearing
the front and underside of the vessel away and sank
into liquid melted by the crash. It settled, tilted at a
shallow angle, and around it the ice froze once again.
The Travellers knew where the ship had died,
although none could say how. They voyaged to the
cold moon, landing atop the wreck, and found a
way in. The wreck still had a little power; the ship’s
systems struggled to support life where none existed.
Everywhere there was evidence of a titanic battle
but not all casualties were caused by the invaders.
The crash killed others, as did the slow seepage of
freezing methane through damaged bulkheads. Those
repaired themselves as best they could but too late.
The Travellers found the wreck apparently lifeless and
made their way to the command chamber.
The chamber was similar to the one in their dream,
although different in some details. The Travellers
were able to access the command podium and
retrieve a data storage gem. It held vital knowledge,
they knew, if they could only decode its contents.
As they worked, they marvelled at the incredible
beauty of the control chamber. Its walls were adorned
with swirling patterns that somehow told a story,
conjuring images in the Travellers’ minds. They saw
an Ancient, perhaps Seven, sending out the crew to
do his bidding. The crew were to find an installation
hidden on some cold moon. The story of the ship’s
last moments was embedded in the wall patterns by
its chief Drone just before she died. It ends with the
crash and a sense of desperate longing. The mission
was in vain and the sense of loss and disappointment
that washed over the Travellers was enough to
disorient them and scramble their memories.
The Travellers are bereft of their memories other than
a scattering of blurry thoughts and a knowledge of one
another’s identities. They stand in the wreckage of the
control chamber, looking around in confused surprise,
and as one they voice a single word.
‘Andor.’
When they 'awaken' they ARE indeed in that chamber they all dreamt about. Ralith Baneson is even holding the Storage Gem. When they finally unravel their memories and remember who they are, it is clear they must get to Andor. They start by exploring the Droyne Ship. Most of the Droyne bodies can not be identified as individuals as they have been damaged so badly.
The travellers due to the Uplift telepathically connect to the controls and learn the workings of the Droyne ship. They are each privy to the very microdecisions made for each station. They are in tuned to the automation of each of their respective stations of expertise.
The exploreres try to figure out the big picture of what occured from the central control staton. Malcolm telepathically connnects to it but all information has been transferred to the Storage gem in the possesion of Ralith Baneson.
Balthrjakur suggests they go to the power generators and when they arrive they find more G482 Droyne that look like they were engineered for Vacuum.
Ralith takes a tissue sample and analyzes it with his Biology tools. These were all Droyne manipulated before they could be genetically assigned to a caste. They also see gems embedded in the faces of these G482s. Due to their telepathic device operation skills they immediately know these are telepathic control devices.
Shandrastebr connects with the mind and the others follow suit. The controlling mind seems low intellect that is confused and hurt. The mind sends G482s after them. The G482 are easily defeated.
The mind attacks them directly.
So far the computer data they were able to acquire shows this attack happened about 36 hours ago. Many of the chambers appear to have Droyne Decor.
In the Diplomatic Chamber they encounter Droyne and 3 humans. Shadraa telepathically scans them as they talk. They are all reluctant to divuldge information but the Lieutennant Commander who was discovered in this chamber relaxes when she sees Malcolm's Admiral Sword and realizes he is retired Navy Commodore.
The Droyne are just here for another sit down.
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER HATICE MENSAH now just wants to get off ship to warn the imperium after the Explorers tell the group of the situation.
Suits for the Droyne and humans are found along the way. But in the landing bay, the enemy is waiting for them. The Explorers casue a diversion as 2 humans leave in the jump cutter, and the Droyne escape with the LCDR. The travellers finish off the interuders as Shandraa defeats the leader in a psychic battle. Everybody escapes the craft and they head for Andor.
Time: 0.8 of a local day.
The Droyne ship escorts The Nameless down to Andor. It is evident that a battle has been fought here.
023-1107:
They land at the city of Eptuay, where they are met ny an entourage and everyone exchanges deeds accomplished. The Droyne seem very impressed with the Travellers. They are introduced to the Leader of Leaders Myuemoss. After some conversation, Myuemoss leads them into a chamber and shows them a mural:
PSIONIC DREAM:
The explorers each end up at a separate place of the Chamber of Knowledge:
When the dream is over the travellers are given odd tasting restoratives and refreshments. The Explorers are gathering their wits, when suddenly it appears that 2 leaders are down from some sort of attack. The G482 has attacked the chamber.
It is clear weaponry will just alert the Droyne because they cannot sense the G482 until attacked. Shandraa instead Leads the Explorers in an attack. She also reveals the G482 to the Droyne so that they may fight them.
While in the fight she gets the idea to use the Psionic Art to create her own vision to allow the Droyne to join in the fight and disrupt the G482 invisibility to them.
2 of the leaders were killed in the attack. After this there is a telepathic discussion involving the explorers and the Droyne. It is determined that the Travellers are critical to its future and perhaps the course of history. They
will be offered major assistance.
024-1107:
Depart for Vanejen. The explorers spend one Day on Karin, One day on Mithril, and One Day on Derchon. The journey to Vanejen takes 45 days.
069-1107:
Arrive at Vanejen.
At Andor the Imperial Navy is sending Destroyers to assess the situation.
070-1107:
In orbit they are hailed. Mercedes is giving them fake authorization to land. Malcolm knows she is lying when he sees she is broadcasting from a ship and looks like she just woke up, but he accepts the coordinates anyway.
They arrive in The Nameless and fly towards the Landing Pad . They arrive before any news about them being at the wreckage sight at Andor. When they depart their ship, they all have shimmersuits on under regular clothes, except for Whistler. He's within his Waldo.
They first meet Algin Hoywelle who comes out to greet them while wearing his parka.
Algin Identifies them as Omicron and Malcolm reads his surface thoughts to get information about them. They learn about Omicron. The travellers ask him questions about the base. Malcolm sees he expects them to know this, and calls him on it, opening Algin up more. They learn about the basic Layout of the base.
They meet Mercedes and she briefs them on the situation. The travellers are fully aware of everything she has to say in seconds thanks to Shandraa, and Ralith. Malcolm Identifies himself as a Commodore.
Mercedes tells them they will meet for Dinner but no weapons are allowed. Malcolm informs her that his Admiral's sword is allowed and he will be using it. It is up to her to figure out how to get the elevator to allow his weapon aboard.
2 PM
About an hour and a half later, they are escorted to the reception.
The travellers identify Mercedes as the only one suspicious of their cover story, so Ralith plants a suggestion in her head that they are indeed Omicron, it was coincidental she made the story, but they have a different purpose from what they originally thought.
071-1107:-082-1107:
The Explorers discover what their uplift process is by using the research computer they gained access to by "suggesting' they get admin rights. Balthrjakur finds much of the research while Rick Elron tests everybody.
Determine that they must go to Vaykough because Tsoyamako is there.
On day 081 Attack Masses from Tsoyamako attack. They are causing chaos and killing many mercenaries. Their goal seems to be the Andor Droyne. The forces of Tsyamoykyo manage to kill one of the Droyne. Through Psionic Suggestion the explorers get them out onto their ship.
Most of the mercenaries were killed, and of he original inhabitants Mercedes, Algin, and Sir Vicervis survive the attack thanks to the actions of the Exlorers.
When they are done they go through another Uplift Event.
Ralith orders Dr Vicervis to give up the Droyne. He protests, and Malcolm presses the issue. They depart for Andor on Day 082.
083-1107:-132-1107:
First Jump Ralith Studies Uplift utilizing the Droyne. Stay at Fosey for One day. Stay at Wardn for 2 days, 1 day on Enos where Malcolm meets a Sword World Contact.
On day 132 they make it back to Andor. At andor they are hailed by a Destroyer. Malcolm has words with the Lt CDR. Malcolm agrees to let them board, and then they plant the suggestion that they are agents of the Imperium and should be left alone. This lowers their interest rating for the Imperium somewhat.
The LTCDR Departs and the Explorers land on Andor.
133-1107:134-1107:
Spend 2 days on Andor Doing Research and speaking with the Droyne.
Droyne help with maintenance for the Nameless. The rescued Droyne are returned.
The Explorers travel to Braudel and it takes them 30 days. Within that time they trigger for themselves another Uplift Event. Ralith and Veera make love during the entire time of the uplift for 2 days with rests.
164-1107:
Arrive in Braudel
When they arrive in the outer system they detect anomalies. There is some kind of energy
disturbance in a far orbit and others, of a different kind, on the planet. The orbital disturbance gives off exotic energy types including tachyons and particles of an unknown and variable nature – variable in the sense that these particles change their energy state and even type in a manner that should not be possible.
Upon analysis by Ralith, he discovers that what they are witnessing is Temporal Bleed. Analysis of the data reveals flashes of a converted Light Carrier. Its still a mystery.
Ralith is confused by Braudel as well as it should be a thin atmosphere but the readings are shwoing a thick atmosphere with electrical storms. There is lots of dust in the air and some readings like a Nuclear Winter.
At that, a Small Droyne scout approaces them. Strangely they are hailed by Mercedes from the research station. She strongly suggests they all get away from the planet. Malcolm agrees and they retreat to an abandoned scout base.
Mercedes and the Droyne are invited on the ship:
How is she here ahead of the Travellers?
Teleporter. Unpleasant.
• Why is she here? Told you, I’ve come to destroy
the threat.
• What is her status among the Droyne? They
honour an old friendship. Or something.
• What is happening on-planet? Bad things. Meet
me for details.
• Can we do anything about the situation? Yes. Meet
me for details.
• What about…? Just meet me and I’ll explain
what I can
They make small talk and then Mercedes talks about the situation: See Notes Below
After their conversation with Mercedes, Shandraa gets a very fleeting weak telepathic message that she links to the others: The Travellers gain an impression of thousands of
Droyne training for combat or constructing weapons,
and a vision of possibilities – the army descending on
a human world or attacking Tsyamoykyo’s lair. The
Travellers receive a vision of Ryau waiting for them on
an island in a lake, with revelations to come. There is a
brief flash of recognition at the very end, as she senses
the uplift process and recognises it. The Travellers gain
the impression she can help with their development if
they can reach her.
Ralith Calculates a perfect path through the Dust clouds to hide their approach and protect the Ship. Malcolm Follows the tragectory perfectly. When they emerge from the upper dust cloud they see there is nothing left of the city that used to exist under the mountains; nothing left to show it was there at all. The centre of the mountain range is a deep, steep-sided crater into which loose material from the surrounding peaks is still sliding. At the bottom is an orange-white vision of hell; charged particles still interacting in the bedrock and creating ionised magma. Smoke billows upwards, with lightning
occasionally flickering between plumes.
Even though they are aboard the Nameless, Sensors white out and the ship loses power a few times. One last time the power goes out and the ship is at the mercy of Turbulence. Malcolm is faced with an impossible piloting feat!

Equiptment Found:
Unpaired Teleporter/Communicator
Missions/Quests Completed
The Travellers now know that some individuals were
removed from the genetic cache on Andor just a
few days before the attack took place. They learned this through their psionic vision.
Character(s) interacted with
Mensah is a career ‘navy diplomat’, who went to staff
college straight out of naval academy and expected
to spend her career as a flag-lieutenant to various
admirals. Instead she was offered a different career
path open only to a trusted few. After receiving
extensive training in Droyne culture she was assigned
as an emissary and diplomatic attaché to the few
Oytripin open to such close contact. Not coincidentally
she never learned the sort of deep secrets an admiral’s
aide might encounter and cannot reveal much even if
telepathically scanned. Essentially she has one job –
diplomatic contact with Droyne on behalf of the Imperial
Navy and the Emperor.
Voyaix is a Droyne Leader; mysterious and strange.
He is a regular visitor to INS Kinshanu, where he
engages in pointless diplomatic dialogue. His Oytrip
does not want anything from the Imperials and offers
them nothing… yet they want frequent ‘sit-downs’ in
which the same meaningless words are repeated over
and over again. This suits the purposes of the Oytrip,
although Voyaix does not know why. It is not his place
to know, therefore he does not ask. He does as the
Oytrip’s senior Leaders command. Apparently the
Imperials are reassured by frequent contact, although
their endlessly repeated requests for a planetside
embassy are always ignored.
Sir Gnetus is an Enemy of Ralith.

The psionic art in the Chamber of Hidden Knowledge revealed the History of the Ancients:
Rise of Yaskoydray
The Last Stand: Yaskoydray’s actions are indicative of his personality. If he was vengeful, he is a tyrant-god who rules through fear. If he showed mercy he is still feared but also respected as a stern but fair deity. The Ancients Era
The Fate of Ekyaioyx: Yaskoydray was somehow persuaded to spare Ekyaioyx and release him from his prison, he was reconciled and became a loyal ally. Although gravely wounded in the Final War, Ekyaioyx survived and was granted a domain far from Charted Space where he may still reside. He would come to the aid of Yaskoydray or avenge him if he heard about an attack.Prelude to Final War
Yaskoydray's summons: The reason for Yaskoydray’s summons was the Reapers. He was trying to unify Charted Space against them, and they are still extant today. Yaskoydray made demands, and was angered that his summons was not heeded properly. This made him vengeful and VindictiveThe Final War
Yaskoydray's War: Yaskoydray fought a clean war, some of his offspring might have come over to his side and may have survived the conflict. The level of destruction caused by the Ancients’ Final War is not as severe and there are more surviving artefacts. The Post-Ancients Era
Yaskoydray was on a mission: Yaskoydray and the Oytrip of Andor accomplished something that remains impressive today. If it can be found, it is a weapon useful against the Reapers. The Oytrip retains a deep veneration for him beyond that of other Droyne communities. The Modern Era
The Droyne Negotiated: The Imperials are suspicious of the Oytrip and reasonably sure their diplomatic party was tampered with telepathically. However, they remain clueless about what they are dealing with and attach little importance to Andor other than wanting to keep Zhodani and psionics-seeking Imperials away.Related Reports

Notes
Mercedes Conversation aboard The Nameless:
Mercedes explains what she has learned so far
and how that knowledge might be put into practice.
Tsyamoykyo is not here. He has subjugated what is
left of the Droyne population and is creating a forward
base for his push into Imperial space. At present the
planet is more or less completely under his control but
that could be altered. Derailing this plan would only
buy time, however, and time for what? Even Omicron
Division does not have the sort of weaponry that could
halt an invasion. Assembling all their forces from right
across the Imperium would simply make destroying
them quicker and easier for the enemy. The only
answer is to eliminate Tsyamoykyo himself. Mercedes
thinks she has found a way.
Tsyamoykyo has a pocket universe, like most of the
other Ancients, difficult to access for those not invited.
It is, in theory, possible to find one of the points where
the pocket universe intersects the macro universe
and force an entry. However, these points are usually
very remote and/or heavily fortified, with decoy
entry points a real possibility. Special equipment is
necessary to force an entry and the attempt would
certainly be detected. Such a direct assault on an
Ancient’s lair is unlikely to succeed.
However, the Ancients made extensive use of
teleporters, including ship teleporters capable of
moving large objects or vessels. These devices are
made in pairs, with movement only possible between
the platforms of a pair. A teleporter can be carried
aboard a vessel to a very distant point, after which an
instantaneous move from one platform to the other
allows hundreds of parsecs to be crossed in an instant.
The macro universe anchor point for Tsyamoykyo’s lair
could be hundreds of light-years away, given the time
frames implied by his ship movements. However, he is
building a ship teleporter here on Braudel. It is almost
complete. If it could be seized, it would offer direct
and instantaneous access to his fortress. Sending a
ship though should protect the occupants from the
deleterious effects of long-distance teleportation. Once
inside his lair, an assault team could… come up with
something. Maybe.
