Domination
A magic power by which one may control the actions of another utterly. Effects depend on caster and castee.
This is generally regarded as a high-level psychic spell, and is difficult to accomplish. This one in particular allows no freedom for the subject to act on their own unless allowed by the caster. Caster remains aware of all subjects' will and action, though quicker-witted or completely empty-headed subjects make slippery ones.
The spell requires only that the caster be uninterrupted while casting, but eye contact and being able to hear the caster makes taking control faster and easier. Able casters can get it done quickly and easily, while others have to practice. As there's usually spells leading up to this one (influences, charms, etc.), the practice is usually gotten somehow before this.
The hold lasts until the caster releases it, either willfully or not, by losing concentration to that degree or by falling unconscious. The subjects have been known to break free, but it takes a lot of mental force to do so. Once free, the caster can try again, but it's just as difficult as before and the subject knows how to escape. Most can't hold that degree of concentration for more than an hour and few indeed can hold it for more than a few hours.
Subjects can be forced to hurt themselves and others they love, but these commands make it easier to escape, as they go against the very nature of a creature.
The awareness of a subject varies on the subject, but a strong sense of self will often allow for consciousness within. This consciousness is compromised (obviously) and it's more a dreamlike state. Awareness of the outside will be limited, but senses still feed back into the person, who can't do anything from inside (aaeeegghsghs sorry).
Memories in these cases are often half-formed, but real, and usually reflects a state of confusion and despair when recalled.
This almost always causes PTSD. Recalling the memories of their time trapped can trigger overwhelming fear, dread, sadness, rage, and pleeennnty more other shit; blackouts or flashbacks; and straight up fucking hallucinations and delusions if not properly helped.
Others are not so unfortunate and will have no awareness, or only fleeting awareness, and will not remember what happened at all. These ones may or may not actually recover from having been dominated at all, however, as these ones often lose a lot of their sense of self in these events. Fragile Selves can be crushed.
