The Nine Hells
A plane where Devils reside.
Made up of 9 layers, in the form of a bullseye, with each layer ruled by an Archduke. The first layer is the outer layer, with the ninth being the innermost layer. The layers have mountains or walls that rise into the sky, between the borders, with the passages between being controlled by the archduke.
River Styx flows through all 9 layers.
Each layer has a location where they turn souls or mortals into Devils.
First layer ash and fire of a blood soaked wasteland. entrance layer. Bastion against demons. Tiamat spawn pits here. Archduke Bel.
Second layer one giant city made of heated iron. Mortals do come to trade here. Has giant prison for mortals and souls of the non evil alignments. Economic center. Archduke Disbader.
Third layer is a bog of decay, pollution, and disease. Weird twisted monsters, that even the Devils don’t know, live here. Has a sinking city, that’s constantly being rebuilt by slaves. Has huge library full of knowledge. Archduke Maemon.
Fourth layer is active volcanos in deserts. Fire is malicious here. Archduke Lady Fierna and here father Bilial. Who have a strenuous relationship due to their alliances.
Fifth layer is a frozen ocean full of glaciers. Has giant ice city that produces supplies, like paper, for the rest of the Nine Hells. Archduke Lavistice. Who is imprisoned in a drifting iceberg for murdering Asmodasouse’s wife.
Sixth layer is a recently transformed by the previous Archduke, a night hag, dying and exploding. Which covered the layer blood and viscera. Ribs turn to mountains and organs become hills and caves. Archduke Glassia, Asmodausus’s daughter. When something does here, the layer absorbs the material. Makes lots of poison here.
Seventh layer is a layer of decay and rot. Formed of industrial pollutants run rampant with stripped forests, giant mine pits, and city ruins. Cities constantly built and destroyed, with the Archduke trying to build the perfect city. Archduke Beasebulb. Betrayed Asmodauous, who then turned him into a slug monster. Layer has a devil carnival to reward devils. Also has a fake mortal city where Devils can train.
Eighth layer is a cold wasteland full of glaciers and mountains. Full of ancient city ruins. Has giant tower full of of wizards studying Hellfire. Archduke Mesophasalees. Who’s loyal, but openly trying to overthrow Asmodaous.
