Red Beard is no two to, Black Beard the 7th, head if the Black Guard , and was hand picked despite his history to assist in reforming the Black guard  after Elros Demigod  destroyed it following Kane, Monk brother of Yinwraek  and his fellow adventurers freeing him by mistake 
Living in Halls of Gold  with his king Gold Finger, Dwarven King 
Felt he deserved to lead the black guard, but was no 2 due to his red beard, but also his rash temperament, his chequered past, having been stripped of his command on more than 1 occasion, including once when in a fit of anger at receiving ridiculous instructions from his lord to retreat he killed his lord, and his body guard, rallied his fellow Dwarfs and won a famous victory against an army of Trolls and the infamous Orc Red Skull tribe
Also renowned in the  Siege of Fornost , where he slew a part of Princess Crystal  guard, and also vanquished a priest of Order of the Radiant Heart 
Has a history with Vulcan, Hephaestus , and the Flamen the Dwarven Bishop , who have blessed him with great power to represent them, but also demoted him a couple of times due to his temper and lack of judgement, lack of courtesy, his high opinion of himself and his pure ambition in his single minded views he is always right, and that he should be leader of the black guard, Dwarven armies, and generally everything else
