Ambushed the Ambush 4/9/2023

General Summary

The party having split in Linhir  so that they do not draw attention to themselves head south to the fishing village to meet the ship they have hired 
Herasger and Yumi travel 2nd after the others have left quietly and have already arrived at the fishing village. Yumi and Herasger spy that they are being followed by 2 horsed back riders, who are wisely keeping out of the way, and who do not wish to engage the party who have a fiersome reputation
Yumi messages Twitch to infortm him they are bering followed and that they will need assistance. 
Twitch knows the perfect location for an ambush along a deep running river and waits for his fellows to arrive up the road.
Twitch along with Ben Dars waits paciently on one side of the road while Aunt May and Ciro await on the other. 
At this point Twitch starts to notice noise in the river canyon, and realises that his colleagues are being set up for an ambush, and will not be attacked from behind, and that they will have to ambush the Ambushers.
He notices 2 evil Demons - Nalfeshnee - huge beasts with baby wings.
As Yumi and Herasger close, he then notices death knights breaking cover from behind them, looking to box them in.
Twitch starts the fight attacking one of the demons, watching his arrow bounce of the scalp of these evil and magical beasts, before the others jump out to join him.
Herager attacks and tries to knock the first demon down the canyon, almost severing its hand and causing it to drop. However the demon teleports back behind him, and bites him for a natural 20 doing 92 damage ripping is throat out.
The action is then fierce with the party fighting both demons, while the death knights out manouvered run to join the fight while the demons prevent the parties escape accross the bridge. Yumi summons his new favourite being, a beholder with death rays. 
Herasgar on a natural 20 then recovers from his almost dead state and with some healing from Ben Dars leads the party into launching a massive attack on one of the demons, which results in it being cut down in 1 round. 
The party then plan there escape accross the rope bridge, and procced to run, cutting down the remaining demon, who attempts to block the escape, but being badly injured and losing morale see his ability to fight drop as he rolls 2, 3, 4 and a 5 on 6 of his attacks, before Yumis magic missiles and the party cut him down as well. However the engagement sees Ben Dars knocked unconscious.  Yumi fires in a barage of fire balls at the approaching death knights. However with the exception of Ben Dars the party make the far bank.
The party take a mixed view to recovering Ben Dars, with Ciro Freya Alexandrin taking his safety as a primary concern and just mooning from his position on the other riverbank in his safe position, while Herasger bravely charging back accross the bridge to save his unconscious colleague from the attention of the 4 death Knights and the Demogorgons warlock. Twitch follows accross the bridge, but at the halfway point, like Ben Dars and Hesager is hit by an orb of fire from the death knights. The bridge itself collapses dropping Twitch into the icy water below, who on a natural 1 finds himself landing on a bolder under the water directly under the bridge. Meanwhile Yumis beholder buys the 1 round needed to save Ben Dars, with Hesager picking him up and climbing down the remains of the bridge on the wrong side. They then fall into the water before amazingly finding the bolder that Twitch was standing on, before inelgantly falling off it, with both great and shit rolls in quick succesion. However Ben Dars also rolls a 20 to become conscious, before also trying to drown himself again as he tries to grab Aunt Mays Huge spoon like staff..
The party then find themselves watchiong their compatriots trying to swim, throwing ropes in while watching from the safety of their bank, while the baddies stand watching their prey escape, being temporarily unable to close to capture the Mothert Pearl. They shout threats of gruesome deatyhs if the pearl is not handed over to their master.....
