Guardian Defender

The Guardian Defender is one of the Kadishcai-Capillai Guardians. Their responsibility is to manage the defence of the Gaps, as well as the rest of the Amnari Alliance. They are also named as Chancellor of the Amin Duum Academy, with general responsibility for the training of young Warriors. They work alongside the Guardian Watcher and Guardian of the Dragon Realm to ensure that all the Gaps are properly defended at all times. Since the Foundation, the post has been held by Ashad Amin.

Qualifications

Any individual found to have the capacity to inherit the title of Guardian Defender is expected to train at the Amin Duum Academy, to graduate at 18 and then complete postgraduate training there and at the Nas Isca Academy. They must complete their full Bala Dura and attain adulthood and acceptance into Amnari society at the age of 21. In addition to the standard Warrior qualifications, they must also be a fully qualified Dragonmaster.

History

The Guardian Defender position was initially assigned as Isha acted to enable more and more people to use both ana and kata. As ana and kata affected individuals in different ways, she was able to identify those who had specific capacities to use the two forces. Ashad Amin, then a leader of the Alandahari tribe, had quickly organised support and defence. Isha conferred the title of Guardian Defender on Amin as she formalised the structure of Amnari society.

Cultural Significance

The Guardian Defender rank is considered to be the most important of the Kadishcai-Capillai Guardians. In general terms, the Guardian Defender is the most visible of all the Guardians, often superseding the Anishcai-Capillai Guardians in terms of respect and importance amongst the general Amnari population. By the early 3000s, increasing contact between Amnari and non-Amnari peoples has led to those groups interacting more with the Guardian Defender, along with Isha and the Guardian of the non-Amnari Peoples.
