The Celestial Realms

The Celestial Realms are the radiant dominions of the divine, home to the Prime Gods, exalted spirits, and the legions of light. They are not a single unified plane, but a shifting constellation of realms, each shaped by the will and nature of the divine being who governs it. From Caudiel’s blazing halls to Varaal’s shining vaults of order, each Celestial Realm reflects a perfect, eternal aspect of the Prime Gods’ purpose.

These realms exist above the Arcane Sea, tethered to the Mortal Plane through myth, worship, and fate. Though unreachable by ordinary mortals, the Celestial Realms exert powerful influence on Ammondell. Prayers, oaths, miracles, and even dreams may draw fragments of their radiance downward—or invite emissaries to walk among mortals.

Structure and Divisions

While mortal scholars attempt to chart the heavens into tiers or spheres, the Celestial Realms defy such rigid structure. They are realms of ideal, where distance, time, and matter conform to divine truth. Some overlap, others remain sealed, and a few rise and fall with cosmic cycles or divine conflict.

Each realm is ruled by a Prime God or one of their exalted heralds. These dominions include:

  • Caudiel’s Radiance (The Unbroken Flame): A kingdom of endless light and divine fire, where every soul is a note in a blazing chorus of justice.
  • Varaal’s Vault (The Scale Eternal): A geometrically perfect realm of order, balance, and crystal structures, inhabited by dragons of light and aeonic judges.
  • Liupan’s Stream (The Flowing Memory): A tranquil realm of lunar tides and endless rivers, where souls flow through cycles of memory and renewal.
  • The Hall of Annum (The World-Father): A bastion of stoic wisdom and judgment, where the first laws of creation were written in starfire.

Divine Inhabitants

The Celestial Realms are populated not only by gods, but by angels, archons, ancestral spirits, and divine servitors, each created or drawn into service by the light of the Prime Gods. These beings serve as messengers, warriors, record-keepers, or guardians of cosmic law.

Mortal souls may ascend to the Celestial Realms in death, especially those who upheld divine tenets or were chosen by the gods. There, they may find eternal rest, continue service as exalted spirits, or be reborn in cycles of purpose.

The Celestial War and the Sundering

Though the Celestial Realms appear serene, they are not immune to strife. In the Age of Silver and Gold, the gods waged war against the rebellious titans, the Abyssal spawn, and even among themselves. The echoes of these conflicts still mark the heavens, such as the Shattered Choir, where a legion of angels fell from grace and split the realm of song in two.

The Sundering of Annum, when the World-Father was wounded and his Eye torn away by Tiamat, fractured the divine order. Many realms withdrew or became more isolated, and the Veil between mortal and divine thickened.

Mortal Contact

Direct access to the Celestial Realms is exceedingly rare, though ascension rituals, divine intervention, and world-shaking prophecy may open temporary paths. The gods rarely manifest in full, but their servants walk the Mortal Plane to guide or correct its course.

To touch the Celestial is to feel the weight of purpose, the burden of perfection—and the promise of eternity.
