Pyraxis, the Sea of Fire

Pyraxis, the Elemental Plane of Fire, is a realm of eternal flame and ever-burning fury, a place where combustion is not merely a physical reaction but a state of being. The skies are painted with ash clouds and streaked with ember comets, while the land constantly reshapes itself in molten flows and volcanic upheaval. Here, fire has consciousness—whispers in smoke and visions in sparks guide pilgrims and torment intruders alike.

The central metaphysical truth of Pyraxis is change through destruction. Structures built of obsidian and brass emerge from the fire only to melt away centuries—or minutes—later, replaced by something new. Fire elementals cavort across the burning rivers, while salamanders, azers, and fire genasi thrive in this harsh, beautiful chaos. The plane itself is alive with seething ambition, resonating with those who seek transformation, rebellion, and unshackled will.

Ruling over this plane is Nakhara, the Flame Rebellious. She is a genasi idol of fire, passion, and upheaval, often depicted with skin like molten bronze and hair like living fire. Nakhara encourages mortals to embrace the burning within—to destroy stagnation and forge new paths through heat and conviction. Her throne, Vulkraneth, is a citadel formed of ever-melting glass, suspended over a core vent of primordial flame. Its halls echo with revolutionary songs and the hammering of weapons being forged anew each day.

While Nakhara is no tyrant, her realm is not without conflict. Efreeti warlords compete in brutal skirmishes over regions of flame that behave like living territory—shifting allegiances and growing hungry for conquest. Despite their power, none dare challenge Nakhara directly; her essence is entwined with Pyraxis itself.

The plane has a powerful pull on mortals born of or devoted to flame. Pyromancers, revolutionaries, and smith-priests journey here seeking epiphany, often returning transformed or entirely consumed. Pyraxis also holds ancient secrets in its flame-etched runes—records of battles, betrayals, and the first spark of fire spoken by the gods.

Connection to Ammondell: A permanent rift to Pyraxis exists near the city of Dullbend in Setias, concealed within a magma-vented gorge known as the Ember Maw. Guarding this infernal gate are the fire giants of Gar-Beldrun, sworn to uphold an ancient compact with Nakhara. The portal pulses most violently during solar eclipses and fire festivals, during which flame elementals may spill into Ammondell, drawn by strong emotion and unfulfilled desires.

Pyraxis is revered and feared by many. To some, it is the crucible of rebirth; to others, an apocalypse barely held at bay. Regardless, it is a place of purpose: to burn is to become.
