Golemstride

Situated between Praetorium Mustanir and Lestin (Mountain's Entry), the Golemstride is considered one of the most extraordinary wonders. The Golemstride is a series of deep, cavernous lakes interconnected by rivers and filled by mountain runoff. At the end of the Golemstride is the head, where a vast dropoff descends. A bridge, constructed by the early inhabitants of the region, traverses the breadth of the head and settling on the canyon territory. The length of the bridge stretches approximately 3,200 feet. To support the structure, the bridge has a series of spans that support that ascend from either side of the abyss. These supports create an intricate truss system that is, itself, a marvel. Scholars are still unsure how such a creation was made. However, any record of the bridge has been lost.   Stories of the Golemstride speak of titanic creatures that roamed the valley that separates Mustanir and Isfa. Illustrations of great wyrms, twisting and turning through the interconnected tunnels. Giants rending the stone beneath their feet in their search for immortality. The most trying story, is the infernal beasts that lurk below. With watching eyes, they pass through the locks, scouting the expansive pools, waiting to lay seige to the Praetorium.   For those who have been daring enough to venture below, be it beings who drink water as air or the inventions to do so, the bottom of the head has never been found. The shallowest of the pools, Partheg, situated closest to Lestin, was recorded at nearly 5,800 feet. The neighboring pool, Athed, the 2nd step, was found to have a depth of 7,300 feet. The ten pools that make up the Golemstride (Partheg, Athed, Duibit, Bezed, Ukru, Avy, Shuut, To'reh, Kuil, and Ofgrun) have been a focus of study, though five of the pools, including the head, have unrecorded and unfound bases. This is complemented with the sheer terror that folds over those who reach those depths. Thus, it has been assumed that no child of Tala can survive in depths beyond 10,000 feet (a measurement assumed to be rounded for its simplicity and exactness), without going mad. The ninth pool, the most unsettling, has given the moniker "the madpool" by those who have endeavored to venture to the bottom. A majority of those who tried failed to surface, the remainder never returning to the pools.   The clear waters of the Golemstride reveal magnificent sheer walls that descend until the light fades. Fish of nearly every sweet water species can be found here. Scholars have wondered if the Golemstride could have been used as an ancient hatchery for different fish species before the pools were connected. However, there has yet to be any indication of any civilization that lived here previously, the earliest accounts being the arrival of the Mustanira. This early settlement, seeking seabound trade, claims to have constructed the Golemstride to access the coast through settlements that would become Lestin and Grys. This has been difficult to prove due to the invasive species of the Garrovine that actively threaten these settlements.
