The Remnants of Utopia

A millennium ago Amare was a Utopia, gods and mortals living side by side creating a world of technological and magical wonder. Alas, all great things must come to an end. As is with all intelligent life war brought an end to the utopia. Wars between gods, wars between mortals, and of course wars between gods and mortals, these events shaped Amare.
Now Amare is a shadow of its past glory. While relatively recent evenets have helped start a boom in technology, for the most part Amare is a simple world. The gods still show some influence by supporting their clerics and paladins with a boost of magic, but direct godly influence has not been witnessed in centuries.

The Current State of Affairs

The past 3 centuries in Amare have seen the rise and fall of heroes and nations. Currently the Western half of Amare is the most divided it has been since the Age of Darkness. All three continents of Western Amare are going through their own political turmoil. Agrosaurea, the largest continent is currently divided into 3 Kingdoms, The Dieldorian Spire ruling the northern part, The Miandora Empire controlling the middle of the continent, and the Dwarven Kingdom of Kolgolar now in control of the south. The Islands of Durmain a dynasty encompassing multiple landmasses has become a collection of City states, each run by a branch of the once united Durmain family. Finally the Independent Isles, the islands have always had political turmoil, however fairly recent events have united the Isles. The isles are currently united under the Concordat of Samael, a Council derived from a leader of each island ruling from the capital Pertios.
