Adamantine
Properties
Material Characteristics
Adamantine was a jet-black alloy of Adamant and other metals. Usually black in colour, adamantine had a green sheen when viewed by candlelight or a purple-white sheen when viewed by magical light.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Adamantine, when smelted, was ultra-hard but this was a costly procedure. Adamantine weapons were useful for damaging the weapons and armor of opponents. A set of adamantine armor or a shield was nearly impenetrable to normal weapons.
Origin & Source
This alloy is only produced by ancient dwarven forges from before the shattering in one of the three remaining great holds. It is a mixture of silver and electrum. There is also another much more complex process with out any Adamant however it is ridiculously intense.
History & Usage
History
Adamantine was in the past used to make increadibly strong, almost legendary weapons and armor. It was said to be resistant to magic, impervious to normal weapons, and as light as any piece of regular armor. It was mass produced back during the times before the shattering, however since that cataclysmic event never has this legendary metal been produced to the same degree.
Discovery
It is unknown who discovered this mythical alloy's creation but it is often credited to Moradin, The Allhammer, masters of metals and crafting, forgelord of the gods. It is said the original diagrams and processes for forging this metal are detailed his codex, as with all other metals. This is said to be one of the first and is the only confirmed translated diagram from his codex.
Everyday use
This incredibly powerful and rare alloy has hundreds of uses, from magical dampening all the way to golem crafts. It is used in as many ways as the small supply of it allows. It is used medically to treat high levels of Warpstone Sickness, it is used to en-shackle and imprison mages, it is used to dampen chambers to magical effects, it is used to make weapons and armors to legendary warriors, it is used to create powerful golems to protect against magic.
Cultural Significance and Usage
Dwarves covet this material due to its powerful historical connections to them and their people being the only ones to create it. They often refer to it as Dwarven Steel, for it was said to have been gifted to them by the Allhammer just as Pelor gifted humans steel.
Industrial Use
It is used for all kinds of industrial uses, from armor and weapon forging to golem crafting. It is used in a very large amount of industrial purposes due to it unique nature.
Refinement
Adamantine is refined one of two way. The first and most common way is a unique process only known by the dwarves, but it involved five parts Adamant, two parts silver and one part electrum.
