Deimos

The Male Makhai

The Deimos are male Makhai, part of the first iteration of the race. They were half of the first of the Makhai races, the other being the Succubi. While they were many during The First War their numbers have since dwindled from breeding with the dominant Charun.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are anthropomorphic, with two arms, two legs and an endoskeleton. Their skin is thick and textured with rose-like thorns along their back, shoulders, and elbows. They are completely hairless and sport digitigrade legs with raised dexterous claws that allow them to be both highly mobile on their feet and grasp objects.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce like most mammals do; however, since they are all males they need to breed with the Succubi, which can result in either Deimos or Succubi offspring. Due to the Charun's genes being dominant within their racial group, breeding with them always results in Charun offspring, which is why the Deimos' numbers have dwindled.

Growth Rate & Stages

The Deimos have an incredibly fast early life cycle. They reach adolescence within five to six years and adulthood within ten to twelve. This is due to them being created for the purpose of war. Their old age is considered to be around the 800-year mark, at which point their skin turns paler and their thorny protrusions can become overgrown.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Deimos are carnivorous but will eat pretty much anything from plants to each other.

Facial characteristics

They have human features, with the exception of animalistic noses, they have strong jawlines and high cheekbones. Their eyes vary from orange and red to black, their sclera is always black. They sprout a multitude of thorn-like horns on their heads, they also have thorn-like features growing down from their chins and out from their cheekbones.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their primary senses are on par with most mortal races, with the exception of their sense of taste, which is so strong they can taste blood and sweat in the air from over 500m.

History

The Deimos were one of Křacos' first attempt at creating a mortal race that can breed (paired with the female succubi), an important factor since the mortal race needed to be able to replenish its ranks during the war. They were created near the end of the First War; however, they still had a noticeable impact on the other mortal races, killing numerous and even drawing blood from many of the Menaðíos. At the start of the new era, they and their kin left seeking themselves a home, eventually ending up in Ersetu. Since then many have returned to Domus and settled a colony in the southern reaches by the nations of the orcs.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Deimos have little aversion towards the other mortal races and are often open to creating relations with them. However, they usually intend the relations to benefit them; otherwise, it's considered a waste of their time. On the other hand, most races distrust them and see them as monsters.
