Ziel

The source of all things magic

Ziel is the magical essence and property of Altheria. It occurs naturally throughout the land, although their is larger Ziel densities in some areas than other. Ziel runs through all people in Altheria, but only 40% of the population is capable of utilizing the Ziel inside their body due to having a larger capacity of Ziel. Those that can utilize the Ziel inside them are capable of casting magic. A magic user can raise and lower their Ziel capacity through intense training. Ziel flows through a persons body in a way similar to blood, it is produced in seven points of the body, both palms, both ankles, the heart, brain and lower back.
Ziel acts almost as a life force for magic users. Using too much Ziel can cause dangerous side effects for magic users, the worst possibility is a user using up all of their Ziel. If this were to happen then the user would die
There is a variety of styles of magic that exist within Altheria. They are, Elemental, Illusion, Transformation, Alteration, Enhancement, Enchantment, Healing, Summoning, Psychic and Transmutation. A persons Ziel is capable of specializing in any of these styles. A person's whose Ziel specializes in Elemental magic gets even more specific as their Ziel will further specialize into a specific element such as Earth, Fire, Ice etc... On rare occasions due to the nature of a persons Ziel, the color of these elements may change. For example a person who has a specialization in fire magic may naturally cast fire spells where the fire appears purple. This color change doesn't make the spell more powerful but more of a signature look for the casters. This color change is very rare among spell casters and is believed to happen through genetic mutation.

Manifestation

Ziel can manifest in everything that is natural within Altheria. It can be seen even further during the season of Alith. During Alith Ziel can be seen coursing through the air in a gaseous state in air streams that resembles rivers in the sky. These streams can vary in color depending on the nature of the Ziel.
