The empress of Amraoth and her companion the great golden dragon Araxhalion had gathered a great host in Ilfelin, meaning to drive back the hordes of Cinvar from the lands now known as Erimea.   Just to the east of Ilfelin, the host of the empress were attacked. Seemingly it was only minor elements of the dark hordes that assailed them, so the empress pressed on only to fall into a trap. The concentrated might of the Pale Lords were suddenly upon them.   Both the Empress and Araxhalion were slain, and the the few survivors faought a desperate rear guard action to fall back to Tol Tinarath.    The place of the defeat became known as the Vale of Tears
