Ravenheart Tavern
History
The foundation of the building dates back to ancient times and has served as an inn, tavern, and guesthouse. Records suggest it once offered shelter to pilgrims visiting the temples of the Old Gods. At that time, the place was known as The Raven’s Shadow.
- 1350s: The retired Gelgic knight-captain Vuldemar takes over the tavern and names it The Three Blades.
- 1652: The Great Calantor Fire. The building is reconstructed by dwarves, who name it The Hammer and the Tankard.
- 1764: The halfling Frunse Fourleaf wins the tavern in a game of bone dice. A notorious barroom brawler, he renames the place Low Blow.
- 1847: The newlywed couple Orevia de Carsival and Nestor de Morodua purchase the tavern and rename it The Ravenheart, in homage to its historical roots.
- Nestor's brother, Agaton de Morodua , is taking revenge for Nestor abandoning the family feud. Agaton invokes a Sorrowsworn , driving Orevia and Nestor to suicide.
- 1869: A married couple, the airshipman Wyllam Montressor and the brewer Madelynne Montressor , take over and begin restoring the tavern.
- 1871: Wyllam is drafted into the Reclamation Wars.
- 1872: Agents of the Society of Esotheric Eschatology , disguised as craftsmen, summon Sodosmas’ Sigil beneath the attic floor. This reawakens the Sorrowsworn, and hauntings begin.
- 1872: Driven to madness by the hauntings, Madelynne shoots her children, the staff, and finally herself.
- 1886: The dwarven veteran and solicitor Hulkrum Thengarekk buys the tavern despite its sinister past, but leaves it standing after narrowly avoiding suicide himself.
- 1889: The Vailhinger Detective Agency clear the haunting and Hulkrum reopens the Tavern
