Whitehall Dwarves

The Dwarves of the White Knife mountain range founded Whtiehall at the same time as the Silanrya Elves founded their home. By the current time, they have build and extensive network of tunnels and cavers which house their people.
During Valarian expansion, the Dwarves build defenses at the entrances to their network of tunnels, and successfully defended them until a stalemate became a peace agreement, then trade led to a friendship between the 2 kingdoms.
Zana Invasion prompted the Dwarves to shelter the remnants of the Valerians, who now live in Whitehall, the only above ground city of the Whitehall Dwarves.
Whitehall Dwarves are clan-centered, but cooperate fairly well with each other to repel Zana raids, as well as raids from teh Frost Giant clans in the North
Experise in smithing, led to the widespread use of chain armor and plate armor over leather an cloth. Tunnel-Fighting with the goblinoid clans in the white knife neccesitated use of Shildwall formations as the basic fighting technique.
Bows are nearly unheard off. Throwing axes and war machines balance axes and shields for Dwarf armies. They are defensive fighters, but a charge of armoured Granite busters, the Heavy Infantry of the whitehall dwarves is all but unstoppable for about 100 yards.
Whitehall dwarves are usuallly dark of hari and eye, and frequently braid their beards and hair, adding adornment as they please.
