Lake Men

Lake Town was founded ruin th eValarian expansion to the West, originally a military fort on the west bank of Mirror Lake, Lake Town became permanent during the peace accords and trade negotiations with the Rad-Al-Nedjay.
Town grew around a man-made hill, topped by a low, stone-walled fortress called Tower Defiance. It was built as a bulwark against the raiding Nedjay caravans.
Lake Men are excellent sailors on the tumultuous Mirror Lake. The lake was named ironically, becasue storms were a constant threat, only ceasing in the depth of Summer, when the lake men celebrate Sun-day as thanks for teh cessation of the storms. "Grey about and below" is their way of saying the weather is normal.
Lake men carry on the military traditon of the Fort, thus utilizing pike formations and phalanxes in their fights with the Nedjay and the Windriders.
Leaders of Lake Town are a council of 3, one representative from the merchants, one for the soldiers, and one for the fishermen.
People of Lake Town wear long tunics and knee-high sandals. Women wear sleeveless dresses, belted in the middle, and down to the ankles. Wealthy individuals wear logs of bracelets and armbands in gold with pearls from the oysters under Mirror Lake. Though racked by storms, Mirror Lake is warm except in the depths of winter, but never gets cold enough to freeze.
Lake Men are of Valarian Descent, but over time have lost some of the stature of their forebears. tending to range shorter and stockier.
