Shulan / Journey to Greycott Played 4/30/2020

General Summary

Our heroes, Rhys, Savane, Octavia, and Chloe, decide to make the weeklong journey to this year’s Victory Festival in Greycott. They leave Rendivar with Savane’s 4 servants (including Lilly who is as much of a friend as a servant) and a small wagon for Savane’s comfort items.
On their 2nd night camping they are attacked by 2 goblins and their wolf. After the easy battle is won, they realize that the wolf seems to be starving even though it’s almost mid-summer. They look around and find wolf pups gorging on something, they don’t get close enough to see what. Rhys drags the two dead goblins from the camp to the puppy nest and that is it until morning when they move on. (The goblins had no loot)
The next few days are uneventful, the summer is a lovely time to travel and not too warm this high up, what rain there is gentle and not worth mentioning. Once the group hits the first festival campsite (about 3 days out) Rhys gets his fortune told She mentioned his curse and that the solution was not here but that she couldn’t see where it was. She also said that he would lose a loved one; and then she paled and picked up her cards and fled! The next day our heroes helped the guard fight some bandits, there were many bodies on the ground but only 1 guard standing with 3 thugs, 2 in melee and an archer. The battle was easily won and Savane was able to heal a few of the guards that were not dead yet. Loot: studded leather. 2 masterwork daggers. 2 masterwork scimitars. 2cp 10s 1g. 3 red potions (minor healing). 1 green potion (Potion of Diminution). 3 pot minor healing. 1 scroll misty step. 4 amulets (containing Dust of Disappearance)
The last event that happened before the city was that our heroes are sleeping and discover rogues sneaking about. They rescue a young halfling girl and stir up the camp looking for her captors. Sadly, while the camp was looking for the halfling’s captors the bandits managed to make off with Lilly and she wasn’t found. The bandits were tracked to a cave with a secret door with a smudged circle on the ground and 4 candles on stands in each corner. There was an advanced magic trap that disintegrated all organic matter when you tried to enter. Thinking on their feet, our heroes tossed a rock into the room which did nothing and then a bone that they found in the cave and that did disintegrate. Working together they were able to disarm the trap but unfortunately there were no clues in the room Rhys talked to a mouse who gave him a clue to a bar in the city, a piece of torn flag from the Sunken Anchor.
Greycott was full to bursting, with campers and events spilling outside of the walls. Octavia was able to get “standard” rooms and 2 squares a day for the group, though they had to split up as there were 2 rooms on the first floor and 1 on the 2nd floor. After dinner there was a meeting with the head of Octavia’s group. They found that there have been kidnappings every year for at least the last 10 years (as far back as the group could get) and every year there was at least 1 girl from each race that helped defeat the demon. – Except for the 2nd year when it was all men.

Rewards Granted

Loot: 1 studded leather. 2 masterwork daggers. 2 masterwork scimitars. 2cp 10s 1g.  1 green potion (Potion of Diminution). 6 potions minor healing. 1 scroll misty step. 4 amulets (containing Dust of Disappearance)   Dust of Disappearance found in a small packet, this powder resembles very fine sand. When you use an action to throw the dust into the air, you and each creature and object within 10 feet of you become Invisible for 2d4 minutes. The Duration is the same for all subjects, and the dust is consumed when its magic takes Effect. If a creature affected by the dust attacks or casts a spell, the Invisibility ends for that creature   Potion of Diminution When you drink this potion, you gain the "reduce" effect of the enlarge/reduce spell for 1d4 hours (no concentration required).
The green in the potion's liquid continuously contracts to a tiny bead and then expands to color the clear liquid around it. Shaking the bottle fails to interrupt this process. From the spell Reduce. The target’s size is halved in all dimensions, and its weight is reduced to one-eighth of normal. This reduction decreases its size by one category–from Medium to Small, for example. Until the spell ends, the target also has disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
The target’s weapons also shrink to match its new size. While these weapons are reduced, the target’s attacks with them deal 1d4 less damage (this can’t reduce the damage below 1).
