Shulan / Greycott Festival Played 5/14/2022
General Summary
The next morning the group decided to get sewer maps before heading down and Savane went to the clerics to see if she could talk someone else into taking her place (no luck) but ended up staying and volunteering for a bit.
While she was at the clerics’ the rest of the group decided to enjoy the festival; and while out they heard much screaming and running - almost like a stampede! Chloe and Rhys took to the rooftops while Octavia continued on the ground, and they found out that a wizard who was entertaining in the children’s area had “exploded” and that people were injured and panicking
. Rhys and Octavia investigated the area while Chloe kept watch from the roof. Octavia spotted someone wearing a guard’s uniform but sandals on their feet making off with a human girl and asked Chloe to trail them but sadly, Chloe lost them in the crowd.
At this point the Soldiers armed with scrolls of Calm Emotion had taken to the air on flying carpets to control the crowd and Savane “hitched a ride” with a young soldier so that she could help investigate and to do triage on the badly injured at the scene.
While investigating Rhys used his ability to check for portals to other planes and found one! It was just within the mile that was his range and was in the lake. There was more RP, but no other facts were discovered (that was enough, though, wasn’t it).
Rhys went to report the issue to the town heads and found Lord Bertrum was at the council house in official capacity. He was able to get a meeting right away, presented his facts (including the information about the kidnapping of each of the races etc.). The town leadership seemed frightened enough to actually take action! Lord Bertrum suggested that Rhys and his group lodge at the Bertrum manner so that the leaders could find our heroes quickly, and of course, they agreed.
They reported to Anne at the Hunters (Chloe’s faction house) and she agreed to make sure the leaders of all of the nearby cities would learn of the events as she didn’t trust the leadership to do so
At this point they actually took in a show but there was a runner waiting for them to take them to the cleric’s to see if they could identify a body, which turned out to be on of the drugged or enspelled girls at the orgy for Lust. The poor thing had been tortured to death.
One of the guards had seen her “fall” into the lake and rushed to pull her out. He didn't look for anyone else to be involved as he thought she was just another drunk tourist, so he didn’t see who threw her in.
Chloe got the address to the manor that the orgy was held at and went to scope it out (really she was pissed). She did discover that the place was a fortress. There were dogs, guards hiding in the yard, and archers on the roof top When she threw one of her knives at a guard an alarm was sounded (I think?) and a robed man came out for a report, then went in and wooden shutters slammed on all of the windows.
Our heroes took 1 more day to prepare for their trek into the sewers, getting maps of the sewers, sewer area that had been blocked off with a “cave in” and of the catacombs. Chloe researched the different symbols that seemed to be associated with cults and discovered that the original demon cult had a circle with 5 seeds forming a star, and that the trident/pitchfork and snake symbols were associated with at least 5 different cults in the past with 2 of them being evil in nature.
So when next we meet the sewer trek will begin.
