Kilromite Baptism

Baptism is not required in order to be a follower of any particular god. However, anyone who wishes to officially enter a faith community or become Devoted may partake in the baptism ritual of the diety they wish to follow. (NOTE: It is highly suggested to roleplay a baptism when gaining the Devotion ability from Way of the Faithful, but it is not required)   A baptism to Kilrom should be performed before a fire- and the grander the better. The candidate will have their wrists bound- typically with a rope, but sometimes a chain is used if a candidate is particularly strong. The decision for what to use should be considered carefully by the sponsor inducting the candidate. The bonds should be secure, but also breakable by the candidate with some effort. The candidate will be bound to either a nearby structure or the ground and the candidate will remain kneeling (on one knee or both) while the ceremony is performed.   The sponsor will speak some words about Kilrom and the nature of the faith. Then they will recite the tenets of Kilrom and strike their candidate between each one- which the candidate must suffer and then repeat the tenets back. After the final tenet is spoken, the candidate must break free of their bonds however possible- this can be through sheer force (itis common for bonds to be weakened to allow for this symbolic freeing). Once the candidate is free they are a Kilromite.
