Session 3.0 - Assualt on Site C

General Summary

After searching the jungles the previous day the party discovers the mysterious Site C. This fortified compound is surrounded by a hastily created picket fort. The party arrives the night of Day 3 (Ark Fall 11 5889). The party hides themselves in a thicket of brush and up in the trees and observer the camp for most of the next day and come up with a plan (or sorts).   Keiman is fluent in the lizardfolk language and with some help from the artificer a set of forged orders is made to make him appear as a mercenary sent to protect the site.   The party will split up, Molli, Fassae, Khaman Udo, and the two Orc bodyguards will infiltrate the fort by climbing over the 5' walls. Barron Udzak will take a position in a tree and cover with sniper fire from his musket.   at late dusk they take their positions. Keiman begins his distraction by bullying and berating the post guards, demanding to meet with who ever is in charge. Once the commotion begins the party sprints for the wall and is able to scale it quickly.   The artifact is laid out before them, but it has 5 technicians or workers doing some kind of checks on the machine. Udo casts silence around several of the workers and the party moves in to kill them.   Meanwhile after some general roughhousing with the guards, Keiman is escorted toward the command tents in the center of the compound. Where he is greeted, suspiciously, by the two warlock warriors who seem to be in charge. The orders pass muster, but Keiman's attitude and actions did not stack up with someone who was there to do a job, and so along with the missing patrol the warlocks are suspicious. They escort him back to the campaign tent with a large map table. As soon as he is inside the lieutenant casts "hold person" on Keiman, he feels the spell paralyzing him but resists. He decides to bluff and acts paralyzed, letting the soldiers disarm him.   Meanwhile, the party in the process of dispatching the crew Udo misses a shot as a worker bends down to pick up a tool and he hits one of the artifact components. this alerts the remaining two technicians who are dispatched by Mollii and Fassae. Quickly hiding in the shadows of the machine the party avoids being spotted by a gnome they see for the first time up on the platform. The Gnome does some magic at the ladder, adding an alarm spell Mollii notices. Udo and the orcs sneak to the shadows of one of the supports and begin climbing up. Mollii notes the magic alarm, and tells Fassae who dispels the magic with ease.   Keiman waits for the opportune time to strike and using his bluff grabs the warclub out of the hands of one of the warlocks, striking him. The other warlock attempts to Bestow a Curse on him, but misses. general melee ensues in the tent gaining the attention of the guards outside.   Mollii and Fassae climb the ladder to the platform, stopping short to peek around. They see the Gnome working on part of the artifact mounted to the tower. Mollii also notices another artifact set up in the middle of the platform, some kind of projector. The Gnome completing his work hops up on to a seat on a platform. This platform looks like it was made by local craftsmen to support a tube like cypher. He pulls up an eyepiece and begins to track something with the device.   The orcs and Udo climb the other side of the tower. Udo has trouble getting a good grip at the location he attempts to climb an falls. However he redoubles his efforts and joins the orcs at the edge of the platform. Udo gives the indication to go take out the Gnome. Vertz and Gormush sneak up on the gnome and take advantage of his deep concentration on his device, striking him wickedly. Mollii and Fassae take this moment to get up on the platform as well, and take shots at him. In response, the Gnome touches a device at his wrist.   A psychic wave emanates from the device! everyone within 100' is suddenly hit with a strong wave of indifference and neutrality. This affects some of the creatures but not all. The gnome is affected by his own cypher.   On the tower Mollii's natural Tabaxi curiosity draws her to the projector and she starts to play with it and ask the gnome what it is. Apparently affected by his own device the gnome shares her interest and tells her it is a lightning wall projector. He then gushes about the Transdimensional Cannon he has here so he can knock down Karna's walls. Luckily Vertz was not affected and he grabs the gnome out of the chair and ties him up.   Meanwhile in the tent the psychic wave affects several soldiers and one of the warlocks, but not Keiman, unfortunately for the rest of the inhabitants of the strategy tent. Keiman takes advantage of the situation and grabs his great axe back and begins to lay into the assembled warriors. This violence knocks them out of their indifference and they begin to return blows. Several more soldier arrive hearing a pistol shot and start ripping into the tent to get at the trouble inside.   Mollii takes the seat at the artifact and begins to use it. She determines it is a telescope of sorts that can see further than lenses could, and allows her to see at night. she also finds out that the Gnome, Clause Von Staubs, was aiming it at Karna! And that it was locked on to one of the towers. She decides to wheel it over toward the open ocean. It locks on there and it opens a dimensional hole at the mouth of the cannon. Water begins to stream in. She triggers the cannon and it fires an insanely loud and fast shot into the water, she sees the size of the explosion.   Meanwhile the retort of the cannon now wakes the whole camp.   The party at the device hatch a plan to use the cannon on the camp it's self, then destroy it. She figures if they take this aiming component, and destroy the portal set up then the whole device will be useless, and no longer a threat to Karna. Udo notices a commotion in the center of camp and believes it is Keiman. As part of the plan Udo has to load the cannon, the Orcs need to get in position near the portal to sabotage it after she fires it. The orcs slide down the power cable from the top of the platform, Udo takes the ladder. Fassae knocks out Staubs. Udo is able to load the cannon and fight off some guards. Mollii lines up the range finder in the camp, but has second thoughts about killing with it. Fassae, however does not, and volunteers to pull the trigger. The Flow of water stops as a new portal opens in front of the crowd of warriors trying to get at Keiman, the trigger is pulled and they are vaporized.   This second retort of the cannon has the porters spilling out of their tents and running for the jungle in fear. Camp is now in utter chaos as the guards loose control over the openings.   With his flank now free of soldiers Keiman dispatches one warlock and knocks another out of the tent through a wall. With an intimidating bellow many of the remaining soldiers run for their lives. The remaining warlock takes his leave of the situation.   Mollii removes the range finder from the mount and Fassae scoops up the lightning wall projector. She then casts Dimension Door and the two of them are safely transported deep into the jungle to a hiding spot. Barron Udzak begins giving Udo sniper support and takes out a guard headed his way.   The orcs reduce the pylons of the portal hoop to junk and run for the picket fence.   Meanwhile Keiman catches up with the warlock who turns and casts Command on Keiman, forcing him to grovel in front of him. With Keiman now prone he casts Hold Person on him and now Keiman is paralyzed! Just as this happens some of the soldiers see what has happened and fall on the now helpless Minotaur.   Udo heads towards the exit but see the one of the warlocks looking to escape, he ensnares him then dispatches him. looking at where he came from he sees a prostrate Keiman being laid into by lizardfolk warriors. Udo moves in to help his compatriot. Being beating remorselessly tries the resolve of Keiman, and he finds the inner strength to break the spell and regains his strength and then begins dispatching foes. with the help of Udo they defeat the mob of soldiers then clear out of the fort.

Notes

Nebuchadnezzar's musket had a critical misfire an is now destroyed.
