Serpent Hills

The Serpent Hills were a range of rocky hills in the Western Heartlands of Faerûn.

Geography

The peaks of the western Serpent Hills broaden out and eventually level out to become The High Moor. They were bordered on the north, west, and south by The High Moor and on the north, east, and south by the Serpent's Tail stream.

Geographical Features

Beneath the red-clay hills was a system called the Serpent Tunnels, partially consisting of tombs from around the time of Netheril's fall. Even deeper beneath the hills, in a region of the Underdark, was the grimlock city of Reeshov.

Notable Locations

  • Dungeon of Swords, a well-protected crypt that was rumored to be associated with the noble House Thardresk of ancient Anauria.
  • Ss'tck'al, a yuan-ti settlement formed in the ruined tomb of a once-powerful diviner named Diderius.

Inhabitants

The Serpent Hills were once filled with life but later turned into a dry, lifeless land inhabited only by reptilian beings. By 1372 DR, the highest population belonged to ophidians.
