Mori no Higashi/ 森の東

The Caniado settlement of Mori no Higashi has existed long before the Green disaster shook the continent, and it was similar to other settlements, until the earthquakes of the green disaster led to the collapse of the ground above the dwarven city of χan̄e̊kiar̂ lo̊χ̄kui̊. Mori no Higashi was unfortunately partly situated above χan̄e̊kiar̂ lo̊χ̄kui̊ , and so about two thirds of the settlement collapsed as well. What was left was a wounded community, living on the edge of an even greater tragedy. It was from here that Daichi Takakishi and his compatriots embarked to take revenge against the druid who caused the disaster. In the following years, the community mourned the loss, but slowly started to rebuild. Soon enough, Caniado from neighbouring settlements were drawn to Mori no Higashi, a place that represented in their eyes honor and resilience. Eventually, the place attracted curious and adventurous people, who wanted to see the crater of χan̄e̊kiar̂ lo̊χ̄kui̊ for themselves. The people of Mori no Higashi were initially unhappy about the attention their quiet village was getting all of a sudden, but with time (and with some brave decisions by the local leaders), they came to appreciate the opportunity that such attention generates: trade and tourism. Ever since then, the small village adapted and developed into a town suited for catering to the curious and the brave that came to gaze into the abyss: inns and taverns were built, and so did many market stalls, which eventually grew to become shops. The added trade and tourism has also elevated the status of Mori no Higashi among the Caniado, and the local sonchō (village leader) has become an influential daimyō. With the added interest in the ruins of χan̄e̊kiar̂ lo̊χ̄kui̊ by outsiders came also an added interest by the local people, who eventually ventured into the ruins themselves and were influenced by the technology and architecture they found. This influence ban be seen in the buildings of Mori no Higashi, and in the tools used by its people.
