Second-Sight

Too Wyrd Quote
I turned and looked with my second sight for my scent and energy trail. The fog-like wake I'd left showed up to me as my favorite color, turquoise, streaked with a sickly greenish yellow, the color I associate with fear.
~ Nicola, Too Wyrd
Second-Sight is a form of Spirit Perception, specifically referring to a solely or primarily visual way of percieving energy. It is used to determine moods, motivations, etc. Certain God-creatures can use a form of it to track.

Side/Secondary Effects

Over-reliance on Second Sight can cause the caster to behave in a noticably odd way. This is because the information about the energy and/or mood of the percieved does not include "why". Most casters use context and best guesses to figure out the why's, though the most effective casters use the energy/mood perception to ask the perciever why-questions.   When a caster makes assumptions about the why, they tend to jump to conclusions or make errors in judgment about the percieved. This means they might behave as though someone has committed a crime, though the person only feels guilty because they didn't stop the one who committed the crime. Guilt was percieved, but the "why" was wrongly assumed.

Manifestation

Second Sight usually manfests as an after-image style effect over the caster's normal vision. The energy shape and color is what tells the caster what it is. While this can vary somewhat from caster to caster, basic color correspondances are usually accurate to some degree.
Gestures & Ritual
Most casters blink or cross their eyes momentarily to activate their Second Sight. This happens after years of practice. New casters may have an entire visualization that they go through before the Sight activates.
Applied Restriction
The caster can really only see what the present energy/mood is. While this includes a kind of baseline for the percieved, it cannot determine guilt in the sense of what happened. It can only determine if the percieved feels guilty. This subtle distinction can cause huge misunderstandings and errors in judgment.
