A Message from Selune

Gerda Dream

Inside a dark forest, there is a scent of wanting death in the air. A shadowy mist lingers over the landscape. You are running through the silhouette of trees. Sprinting like a wolf on the hunt, you feel detached from the running wolf. Your vision adjusts with a simple blink as the breathing of wild beasts intensify. You’re looking through a vacuum tunnel at the end of a pack of giant wolves. Nine ethereal wolves are weaving through the trees and jumping over logs. They are on a hunt. On the hunt for what? In this bleak forest, there is no actual life.   Your eyes are peering through the intangible leader vale. The details of its form come to light. The eyes resemble the molten lava fields of an exploding volcano. Its coat glistens like platinum silk, while its fur guard along its neck is a bristling silver. It motions to three other unusual-looking wolves. They are flanking and directly behind the alpha. The farthest left of the leader is a wolf of pure darkness. Its physical form is of a shadow with no eyes to focus your attention on. The middle wolf has a copper and gray coat. It has bloodshot eyes. The irises of the wolf simulate the color and texture of blood. From the light of Soneri*, the maw glistens with the freshness of a recent kill. The third wolf is the most unusual-looking. Its coloring is black with a silver highlight, but the coat sticks to its skeleton. The gaunt wolf looks like it hasn’t eaten in weeks. The head of the beast is only a bleached skull. That is a ghostly tethered to the body. A deafening quaking sound is heard in the distance, drawing your attention away from the other five wolves.   A radiant beam of light pierces like a spearhead bursting through the atmosphere from the heavens. A pulsing ring of fire and smoke ripples through the atmosphere. You and the pack of wolves watches intently as this object rockets towards the ground. The earthquakes, an eruption of dust, and debris fly through the air as the object makes landfall in the forest. The pack of wolves begins to dash in the direction of the impact zone.   They all reach the edge of destruction surrounding the zone of impact. The pack cautiously navigates the sloping crack ember fields of wreck trees and death. Finally, they arrive at the steamy center of the crater. A glowing red source of light, creating a bright silhouette of a sword in the dark smoke. The alpha wolf creeps forward to the glowing blade. It begins a grotesque and painful transformation into a human and wolf hybrid. The three unusual wolves position themselves at equal distances to form an equilateral triangle. They also do their transformation. As their bodies painfully distort, a vortex of black drizzling fog wraps around them. That only shows their agonizing distorted shape transform. The vapor around them darkens and thickens.   The fog around the wolf of pure darkness changes its form. The smokey pattern changes to a dark liquid-looking mist into the black hand of Bane. An outline of a dark man creates a vortex around him, and his long robes vacuum the smoke into his form. He has a black palm raised with rosary beads towards the platinum wolf. He is spewing dark energy into the alpha.   The copper blood soaks wolf smog changes its form to liquid blood. The fluid coils around the shape as it painfully transforms into its hybrid form. The red juices fall onto the ground. A symbol is materialized by the displaced blood hitting the ground. It is the symbol of Bhaal. It leaves only the red-soaked silhouette of a female with her bladed weapon pointing to the alpha. A thick liquid stream pours into the veins of the platinum wolfman.   The third wolf transformation collapses onto itself. Only leaving ash, dust, and bone fractures that form a triangle in the center of it all. There is a point of the ashen ground raises. A finger wrapped in black gauze emerges out of the dust. The emerging hand positions itself in the fine sand so that it may lift the rest of its frail body out of the earth. The dust cascades off the center triangle and rolls off a bleached skull. It has a black triangle that mirrors the aesthetics of a headdress and the bleached skull. Both combine to resemble the symbol of Mrykul. The androgynous figure is in a black robe and gauze wrapped around its appendages. The quivering fingers rise to point at the platinum wolf. The particles swirl around its body and travel down the skeletal arm. The necrotic cloud encompasses the alpha.   The platinum wolfman bulks up in size. The five other wolves bow to the leader as he gains strength. The energy from the three gods of death is imbuing him with power. The wolfman casually walks to the weapon. He is stretching out to the sword. The fingers begin to wrap around the handle of the sword. A crackle beam of light strikes the pommel of the blade. The stream of light is coming down from the full moon. The goddess Selune strikes the sword with a pinpoint beam forming cracks into the steel. She fires down another jolt of energy onto the sword. The weapon breaks into five different pieces. All shattered pieces transform into lightning and fly off in five different directions. The platinum alpha wolf looks to the five bowing wolves and orders them to find the weapon.   Your point of view transitions. You are now looking down on the world from orbit. You watch as these five pieces trace along the curvature of the land. All five make contact at different points of the world.   You awake from your dream. Next to your new husband, you get out of bed and put on some walking shoes. You leave your place, still wearing your nightgown, and walk through the empty dwarven streets of Himmelfjall. You head to the outer layer of the city in the direction of the Shrine of Selune. Your sisters and brothers of the silver lady greet you at this late hour. This time makes for the best worship of the lady of the moon. You find the High Priestess Zakdra Dryaalear. The thin curvy half-drow with translucent white hair greets you. You begin to recant your vision.
