Userkaf

Userkaf loved to dress up as a kid. He would force his parents to watch him walk the runway in whatever he could find in his closet. A green tunic on his umber skin; maybe a tan flat cap smothering his curly, black-brown hair. He loved mixing articles of clothing with different patterns and textures, and experimenting with clothing that wouldn’t typically go together. He is very creative and unafraid of a good challenge. This interest in clothing and fashion grew with him, and at the age of 19 he decided he wanted to dedicate his life to it. He wasn’t entirely sure what that would look like though. What does he have to do and where does he have to go to improve? His parents weren’t entirely sold on the fashion idea, worried he wouldn’t be able to make a living off a “career like that”. Userkaf felt directionless for months until he learned of the prestigious University of Thoth in Seshat El Medin. The school is for students who want to turn their dreams into realities. They have just about every study there, and if they don’t, you could still make it happen with help from the school. Lucky for Userkaf they had studies relating to fashion design and production. Not only would this school give him the chance to get better at his passion with professional help, but they would introduce him to magic as well, which is practically foreign to him and his family. Living all the way in the kingdom of Khasut on the eastern coast of Mahka Nata, the small western island was more than leaps and bounds away. Even more so because it only seemed to let in the most brilliant and promising students. Despite all of this, however, Userkaf still felt a puzzle piece click into place in his soul. He had to at least try.   With a decent amount of convincing and promises, Userkaf’s parents allowed him to apply to the school. He sent his application and portfolio to the school with an air messenger and anxiously waited.   When the messenger came back Userkaf was about to practically explode. He jumped up and down vigorously and called for his parents excitedly so they could open it together. After studying the envelope to stall facing the decision engraved in the letter below, he ran his finger under the lip of the seal and read the contents of the letter. His parents stood next to him at either side, trying to not peak over his shoulder and read the letter themselves. He turned to face them white as a sheet. There was a moment of silence. Then, suddenly, he hugged them and started laughing, screaming that he had gotten in.   Currently, he is in the final week of his time in Khasut before he makes the trek to Sheshat El Medin. He has been keeping in touch with assigned administrators and advisors about the classes he needs to take and the housing he will be put in. But above all that, he has never been more excited and nervous at the same time. But, Userkaf and his parents know he is more than ready. They have packed and prepared everything he would need. So, in the meantime to ease his nerves, he spends bittersweet time with his friends and family, wondering what his life at the University of Thoth will be like.
