Tokals
When pushed up into the mountains the Astorian people started to try to develop new homes and towns and, in this time, they found an animal native to this region that can travel steep difficult terrain with ease. Due to this the first to officially hunt and domesticate Tokals for use as both food and working or riding animals were the Astorians. Tokals are an incredibly helpful resource to those dwelling in the mountain regions, especially Wakatakte. People have found many uses for the Tokals over the time that they have been in this area. They use the Tokals as a means of exploring and traversing parts of the mountains that would normally be quite treacherous to try to traverse on foot. Tokal herding is an important part of the agricultural system in Wakatakte as Tokals make it easier to set up farms and terraced farms. Tokals are also commonly used by merchants as pack animals to pull their caravans while traveling in the mountains. Outside of the work Tokals are used for they have also found use in raising them for their meat. The most common dish made using Tokal meat is a stew spiced with herbs from the banks of the hahawakpe river.
