The Pyramidion

Crafted far prior to the arrival of Hilael to Mahka Nata, the Pyramidion is believed to be older than life as it exists in the world. The Pyramidion is believed to transcend ownership. Throughout the lifetime of the blue-gemmed necklace, many have tried to ‘own’ the piece but none seem to be able maintain ownership. Strange events occur to those who bear the necklace, oftentimes resulting in the wearer’s demise. The Pyramidion is seen as a death omen to those wise enough to know the tales of its past owners. The current whereabouts of the Pyramidion are unknown but children often spread rumors regarding sightings.

The Pyramidion has a vast history, much of it left to rumor. Within that rumor lies one popular story spread throughout the streets. The tale goes as follows: there were once two siblings, one brother and one sister, both descendants of a royal bloodline with their parents in particular positions of power. The brother was named Angatus, while the sister was named Gathesh. The two were inseparable and disliked the attention they received as royalty. They decided to flee the kingdom. They stuck together, as per usual, until they reached the edge of the wilderness and looked out into a land with no laws. Angatus sought to return home while Gathesh was prepared to trek the treacherous landscape. And so for the first time they split. When Angatus returned home, he rattled to his parents about Gathesh’s plans to continue into the wild and thus launched a search party to find her. Eventually, they did find her but Gathesh was not the same. Gathesh was unsteady, seemingly startled, it was as if she had seen something unforgettable. Her clothing was not tattered, hair not undone, hands not muddied, it was as though she was visually in perfect condition. The only change was an absolutely stunning blue-gem necklace that lay stretched across her neck. Everyone assumed the change in behavior was a result of fear in the wilds, if only this was the case. The following morning guards had discovered Angatus murdered in his parent’s bedroom not far away from where his parents suffered a similar fate. Gathesh had murdered her family and then herself in the most horrific way possible. All family members were found with their eyes clawed out and a single vertical cut from their bottom lip to the center of their chest. The necklace was gone.
