Safiya

Safiya, native of Kaliq Hala, was one of those who discovered blood magic in the year 1027. This discovery would change the course of her life. Once a flamenco dancer, turned outcast, she now travels all over Kaliq Hala aiding merchants, foreigners, and poor people.

Childhood

Four years after the founding of Kaliq-Hala, Safiya was born by the Seaborder in 1005. Her faith is to Deshrat and the Crescent Queen. Deep down at heart, she is a full Adairian. Her parents didn’t have much but their knowledge of being a doctor and librarian. They were considered to be a part of the Scribe class after converting their faith to Hilael. Growing up Safiya was able to learn how to read and write. She read a lot and helped her parents where she could. She spent time studying her parent’s work and its value. When she turned ten years old, she enrolled in Flamenco dance classes. She found a band of sisterhood and freedom. Dancing allowed her to have fun and relieve stress. The more she engaged in dancing, the better she became. Soon she would be a prodigy able to lead the show. Wherever she danced, people gazed with awe and wonder.

Flamenco Dancing

The more Safiya’s parents worked, the more Safiya pushed away and danced. Her parents felt that she was wasting her potential with dancing. They wanted her to have a good profession. Safiya, refusing to quit, was kicked out by her parents. This was the push she needed, so she left home and joined a band of dancers, touring all over Kaliq-Hala. She led many shows, the income wasn’t great, but she was happy. At twenty two she was on her way to a show in the South Province. She accidentally fell into a pit, unable to escape for a couple of days. She discovered blood magic. Keeping this discovery a secret, she used her newfound powers for good. While others were okay with those using blood magic, Safiya didn’t want to reveal that she was a part of those. She continued to dance and do shows, while simultaneously helping people in need.
