Muireak began learning blood magic at a very young age through spying on the actions of Hilaelean warriors all around Kaliq-Hala. Despite the danger of practicing blood magic without a moderator, Muireak discovered that they were quite adept at the art and by the time they received their choice of a rapier at their Coming of Age ceremony they had secretly mastered the skill at a young age. As Muireak aged, they only became a stronger wielder of blood magic in addition to being a strong swordsperson making Muireak a force to be reckoned with.
Since the Ciaran lack financial stability, Muireak, with their secret knowledge of blood magic, was capable of theft with the art since they could easily deny allegations through a supposed lack of ability to perform the magic. One day though, while roaming in the Smith’s Row region of Kaliq-Hala, undoubtedly looking for items of value, Muireak perceived the fear being exhumed by nearby children. This confused Muireak and motivated them to ask the children the source of their fear. They, to Muireak’s surprise, pointed to the blue gemmed necklace around their neck. The children feared that Muireak was bearing the Pyramidion, a fabled, blue necklace that grants the wearing strength at the cost of their sanity and life. Learning of such a tale fascinated Muireak.
Muireak decided to question their parents of the Pyramidion and their parents recited the tales in their entirety to Muireak. Their parents also gave Muireak the knowledge that the necklace exists and the tales are true. Muireak was no longer fascinated by the necklace but obsessed with obtaining it. They believed that a necklace of such power must have been created by the deity Ghri for a child that selected its corresponding color, blue, during the Ciaran infancy ritual to retrieve in an ultimate showing of faith. Muireak believes that their faith in Ciaran’s form of Adair culture would protect them from the harsh death promised by the tales of the Pyramidion.
