Merit Heka
Merit Heka is a respected Hilealian professor at the University of Thoth in the kingdom of Seshat El Medin. They are about 5’ 6’’, with an athletic build, green eyes, and dirty blond hair that is always cropped short. They specialize in teaching magic, specifically Kinetomancy, which uses momentum and energy generated by the body to cause magic. They have been studying Kinetomancy since they were a child, as the practice is interwoven in their family lineage, both genetically and culturally. The members of the family have always had a strong, innate disposition to the calling of the magic and, therefore, it became central to certain family traditions and rituals over the generations.
Therefore, for Merit it made sense to go to school for Kinetomancy and they studied it at Thoth. Although there were times when their way of kinetomancy would clash with that of the professor's way of teaching, they became even stronger and more competent at the magic, learning it in their own and other ways. After 6 years at the University of Thoth, they graduated with one of the highest achievements in kinetomancy. Soon after they were invited back to teach full time. Merit felt a strong sense of purpose in teaching the magic, as their family did for them. Therefore, they gladly accepted. Merit Heka has now been teaching at the university for 10 years. They are considered a loyal and trusted member of the teaching staff at the school by students and professors.
They live in the gated community on the eastern side of the school's campus and, in their free time after teaching in the mornings, they like to walk on the beaches of their neighborhood, feeling their feet trudge through the tide and enjoy the weather. Their calling to kinetomancy reflects in their interests as well. They are pretty active, enjoying hiking, boating, and fishing, and they love to dance, without purposefully calling magic, as well, although sometimes they can’t help a little seeping out, dazzling unknowing spectators.
They love their life and daily routine of classes, outdoor activities, and dancing, but sometimes your friends are not always there, and Merit gets lonely. Recently, thoughts of finding someone to share all of this with keeps creeping into their mind. They are usually quite reserved, so that kind of partnership with someone almost didn’t seem to be in the cards for them in the past. But, Merit wants to stay hopeful and is willing to try going about things in a different way to see if they might meet someone new.
