Limahj
On the opening day at the University of Toth, an opening ceremony called Limahj is held within the Hilael guidelines in the hope that the rest will motivate the people to work towards another year of continued prosperity, as well as raise the spirits of the students. In Sheshat El Medin, it is one of the biggest festivals of the year and lasts 2 full days, the day before classes and the first day. Because of the majority population of Hilaelean people on the island, it is performed within their customs and rituals. With the first ceremony being at the first hour of the night, the Hillaelean on the island gather at the shore and watch the moon reflect off of the ever-moving waves. This hour is reserved for direct prayer to Deshret and if you do not worship him you are not allowed to attend the first hour. Those who do not worship Deshret decorate the public areas of town and the University courtyard. The colors of the event match the vibrant colors of the imported flowers in the University to show unity between the island’s people and those in the University. After this, there is lively music and celebration throughout the island where the people celebrate the knowledge and prosperity the university has brought to the island. The festivities go on for two full days with life seeming to halt for the laborers, as the only ones working are the food vendors so the island can stay fed and musicians to keep the mood high. In high spirits, the bells ring from the tower of the school on the last hour of the second night signaling the time to return to prayer for those who worship Deshret and the return of normality to the island. Students return to their classes and find peace with their assignments because they know the people believe in them and hope for a brighter future.
