Laise Dubhthach
Laise (LASH-uh) is a 26 year old member of an Adair commune north of Kaliq-Hala and west of Khasut. They serve under Talamh, the deity of earth and harvest, and patron of alchemists. However, Laise is the only alchemist in a family of warriors and bladesmiths. One of their parents is one of the strongest cavalry soldiers in the commune, and the other is a skilled bladesmith who has revolutionized sword design. As the oldest of five siblings, Laise often feels invisible to their family as their siblings' military achievements and learning seem to outshine their own advancements in alchemy. All their family cared about is fighting, never sparing a minute to listen to Laise's alchemy experiments. But that does not stop them from studying alchemy and doing personal experiments in their small room.
Laise was always fascinated with how the world works, collected alchemy books of any types, and was mesmerized about the process of producing the elixir that is so essential to their culture. Their parents told often a story that when Laise took their first sip of elixir at their Coming of Age ceremony, they had tried to swish the elixir around in their mouth to taste and guess the ingredients. Laise works as an apprentice under the commune's Cea, studying the elixir making process and how to prepare each ingredient. In their small room, Laise works on their personal experiments, using a spell on their walls to drown out the noise of swords clanging and yelling from their family.
One day, Laise accidentally spilled one of their test potions onto a small steel dagger, turning it to gold. Intrigued, Laise now wanted to know if there was a potion that could make weapons indestructible. After searching through their books for hours, no such potion seems to exist. Laise's mind ignited with questions: Could a sword have spells? Can horses get stronger with their own elixir? Can potions be used as weapons? With the approval of the Cea to do an exploratory journey, Laise travels through Kaliq-Hala, Khasut, and the surrounding nature, recording the landscape in their journal, to find answers and come back with potions that not only change the lives of the Adair, but hopefully get their family's praise as well.
