Kasa Talutah

Ritual Hunter

Kasa Talutah was born in 1400 in Kaliq-Hala to secretly affiliated Astorian parents. Five months after her birth, an Adairian named Alys came to take Kasa and raise her to protect her during the Astorian Reconquista. Sadly, her parents were captured that same night and killed at sunrise for being false spies. Now an orphan, Kasa lived in the Adair communes outside Kaliq-Hala. Alys did not want Kasa to forget her roots and in honor of her parents, Alys secretly taught her about Astorian culture. Alys, however, pushed the Adairian belief of being agender onto Kasa in later years that created tension between the two.
In 1415, at fifteen, Kasa was drafted into the Adair military draft as a medic. She remained in that position for nine years until 1424. Kasa revealed her gender identity as female to the commune and her want to transition to Astorian culture. From this proclamation, Kasa was cast out of the commune to fend for herself. She successfully navigated her way through the Acid Swamps and arrived in Apawičhak'ya after traveling for eight months. She stayed there and learned the way of Astorian culture, becoming a very skilled ritual hunter and healer for the region. Until 1426, when tensions between Astoria and Hilael had gotten worse. Out of fear for what happened to her parents, Kasa and other ritual hunters retreated into the Acid Swamps. Here she and her band of hunters hid from Hilael and learned how to survive and adapt in the harsh environment.
More Astorians came into the swamps to learn from Kasa’s knowledge of nature and healing properties. Soon Kasa was the leader of her own ritual hunter society. Higher class Astorians gained interest in Kasa and wanted to use her skills to help them assassinate their Hilael enemies. Wanting revenge for her parents, Kasa trained her people to become a band of hunter assassins. The group became hitmen who used trade as payment for their services. Demand for her hunters increased as Astoria began to clash with Hilael. Kasa’s society flourished, however, in 1447, the location of their society was found out and the Hilaelian soldiers made a bloodbath out of it. No one survived, including Kasa as she went down with it.
