First firing squad of Astorians
This event was a major event for the Astorian people living in Khasut. The killing of some of the Astorians by use of Hilaelen firing squad was used to set an example on how things will work for those living in a Hilaelen run kingdom. In Khasut there is religious law that involves admitting the other religions and associated God’s are lesser than Deshret and worship to these God’s may only be done in private. There were some in the Astorian community in Khasut that didn’t agree when the law was put into place and thought the supposed firing squad punishment was just said as a potential scare tactic, since the law was so new. Due to this, some of the Astorians decided they weren’t going to follow the rules exactly and still do as they wished in their communities and near their homes. Once the Hilaelen guards caught wind of this they knew this was their chance to enact the punishment for the religious law for the first time. The guards went around house to house and forcefully gathered those who had broken the law (who they gathered was based solely on eyewitness accounts of other Hilaelen’s residing nearby). Once gathered they were all lined up outside the Astorian quarters so all could hear and watch, by now a crowd had gathered and there was quite a commotion. The example that was made of their people that day has stuck with the Astorian people who reside in Khasut for years. The story of this tragic day is passed down by word from parents to kids as a reminder of why they follow the laws as closely as possible.
