Almyrten

Almyrten roughly translates into Hialean as "Twice Death" and refers to a double bladed sword similar to a Hopes. The Almyrten is a special weapon that hails from the Hialeah homeland. Warriors of Hillel are taught over the course of 9 years how to properly wield the weapon, as using it incorrectly can lead to serious injury or death. The weapon is traditionally forged from a bronze alloy that is tempered in order to give it a flexible bend while still being incredibly durable. After the weapon is tempered, it is treated by Hialeah priests before being given to the warriors of Deshret. This traditional method is very popular and still used today in the Hialeah homeland, but is less often seen in Mahka Nata. The demand for the Almyrten in Kaliq-Hala and many Hialeah kingdoms has lead for a shortening of the process, where corners are cut and religious practices are discarded in place of efficiency. The Almyrten is still used by the warriors of Hilael, but in many instances it has been exchanged for weapons that are easier to use, including the Almyrten's single bladed cousin, the Khopesh.
