Adair Stilt Housing
On the island of Seshat, the Adair were unable to create their usual commune because of the allocation of the island to the University and the lack of space elsewhere. Because of this, the Adair began to explore what the island had to offer, which were many trees and hidden spaces in the cave system. The original Cea of the island, after having a vision from the deities detailing the Adairians plans to build homes, directed the people to the south-west corner of the island where there was an abundance of wood. At first, it appeared they were just building huts and it was of no concern to the Hillael and Astorian of the island, but as time passed the appearance of rickety boats hauling large logs longer than the vessel was a point of interest. Within a year of the original construction of huts on land, the Adair were able to engineer a way to anchor the trunks of the large trees into the sand of the ocean and erect a house outside of the perimeter of Seshat. These stilt houses are a place of refuge for the Adair in the fast-paced world of the island and a way to remove themselves from the restrictions of others. The Adair housing is shared by families and pass down as the time seems fit. Some houses are larger than others and when a new family is joined, through a ceremony such as marriage, the commune will tend to move families into different houses or offer their own house to their friend. If someone feels there is a need for more space or a new house a request is put in with both the Cea and Rial, and if approved is up to the requester to build. This is a struggle because of the lack of resources on the island now, with the forest being gone, but the Adair find a way to thrive and continue this unique style of housing.
